    October 2017 References

The IBC 2012 SEAOC manuals are on Amazon.  https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=dp_byline_sr_book_1?ie=UTF8&text=ICCSAFE&search-alias=books&field-author=ICCSAFE&sort=relevancerank Even if they make the switch to IBC 2015, I think you will still be OK with these manuals for lateral...

April 2017 PE Results Are Out

I'd say you have 2-3 more weeks.

    AISC Seismic Design Manual

pkarna, Those are simply moment coefficients based purely on structural analysis to determine the moment at the given location. For instance, the moment at the mid-span of a simply supported beam with a distributed load is (wL^2)/8 or (.125)*wL^2 where the alpha or gamma moment coefficient is...

    Waiting....

Came out June 17th in 2014. I'd put the over/under at June 14th.

    Good luck, everyone!

Don't make too many of them?  It's impossible to know unless you are a grader. And if you pass, you don't know what you were borderline on.  They only tell you where you need additional help if you don't pass.

AASHTO, ASCE, ... etc. Problem Solving Strategy

You will come across questions that reference portions of the code that you aren't familiar with. Just gotta hope you look up the right term in the Index. For books that I had loose leaf, I put the index at the back of all the binders. For instance AASHTO spans over 2 binders, but don't just...

    Best Watch for Exam

I had an analog watch which should be fine for keeping pace. The proctor should give you warnings when you have 5 minutes and 1 minute left.

    AISC Seismic Design Manual

Yes, it is going to be tough for a bridge engineer for the 40 multiple choice morning sections. Expect to see 30 building questions and 10 bridge questions.  As for example problems there are lots for building design questions.  These are in addition to the codes/standards you will need for the...

    SE Exam Cut Score Estimate

Everyone has the same morning section. It's 40 multiple choice questions. Roughly 30 building questions and 10 bridge questions.  If you take the buildings exam you will have 4 essay questions, both vertical and lateral exams. If you take the bridges exam you will have 3 essay questions, both...

    SE Bridge Review Material/Course?

    Thanks OHBridgeGuy!

    Detailing Reference

Zaidfadhill, The only thing I can tell you is to look at any drawings/details as shown in the codes, practice problems, etc. Anything else will be up to your experience and/or understanding of the problem. But there is no "detail guide" for the SE exam that I know of.

    SE Bridge Exaam

Also, FYI, per the NCEES exam guidelines anyone who takes the test is not supposed to "ever" talk about what was on the test, so you probably won't have someone reply with specifics on what they saw in the past.

    SE Bridge Exaam

Chillhaus, I did the buildings exam so I'm by no means an expert on what the bridge afternoon section will have. But the short answer would be anything that AASHTO covers, so yes, you may have a culvert, barrier, something with wood, etc. Given the shear volume of the AASHTO code (and all of...

    Cold Formed

The proctors at the exam aren't going to care whether you printed out or paid for the codes. They may not even really know what the codes are. I wouldn't go telling that to whoever put's the codes out though (AASHTO, ICB, etc.)  If AISI has it available on the website, and the pdfs are...

    Cold Formed

Just get the AISI code. There is probably a book out there, but it's probably not worth buying. There will only be 1 question on each exam dealing with cold-formed steel.

    Structural Analysis Book?

My guess is you probably won't have matrices, virtual work, and higher level questions like that. Along with shear, moment, deflection diagrams, definitely review influence lines, moment distribution, truss member forces, portal method, cantilever method, etc.

    SE License in any state?

You can probably take the exam in any state. The question is do you need an "SE" license to do certain structures vs. a "PE" license. This is where certain states differ. Most states, like my state, South Carolina, you can take the SE exam, and if you pass, you will get your "PE" stamp. You can...

Vertical and horizontal at the same month

Good point VTBridge. Do whatever works best for you.  I think I found the overtabbing to be a problem more on the AISC Code books because they are a couple inches shorter than ACI, 8.5x11 paper.  Plus the Steel Manual just has so much info and tables in it. Might have better luck with tabs on...

Vertical and horizontal at the same month

TehMightyEngineer is correct.  I found out the hard way on over-tabbing my codes and had to go back and re-do. Also, here is another free tip that I also have in my book. Leave some space in the middle of the outer page edges where you do NOT put tabs. This is so when you use your thumb on the...
