when will i find out April SE code?

That's great to hear.  I got caught in a AASHTO code update between taking the lateral and vertical exam.  Was a little disheartening having to get a new version of AASHTO I would barely use.  Although, I've had my book updated for a year now in anticipation of them going to 8th edition...

    SE Exam Oct 2019 Result

I agree with this for the morning. The time it takes just to physically move from 1 code to the next would probably add up to someone having enough time to work an extra question or 2.  Shouldn't have to be that way.  As far as making the exam "easier", I'm not sure that's the best approach...

    SE exam requirements

What we typical call the "PE Exam" is referred to by NCEES as the PE Civil: Structural exam now.  We out here in the real world will keep calling it the SE exam.

    SE exam requirements

Start here.  It's confusing because it looks like NCEES is now calling the exam the PE Structural Exam, but this is the guidelines for the 16 hour SE exam.   https://ncees.org/engineering/pe-structural/

wood and masonry book specifically for SE exam

I was thinking about writing a masonry book for the SE exam until I stumbled upon this book and realized it was no longer necessary.  Get this book.  It's only about $30 once shipping is added in.  http://cmacn.org/bookstore-CMACN.htm#CMA020-15 PPI used to have a book for wood called "Timber...

Cutting off too many pages of codes I will not need

Yeah, I only brought chapters 16-30-ish of the IBC code.  For AASHTO I would probably just lug the whole thing in there because probably 80-90% of it is fair game. Just never know.

Rolling cart for all the books and codes recommendation

I used (2) large plastic bins that you get from Home Depot/Lowes.  One for codes, one for study guides and other materials.  Any more than that you are probably bringing too much.  Used a mid-grade hand truck to get them from the car to the exam table.

    Exam Materials Question

Can you make photocopies of the Codemaster pages onto regular sheets of paper, and then just put them into a binder?

    Afternoon Lateral Forces - Bridges

Do what he is doing for AASHTO! Also, if you find that you are always referring to something or needing a piece of info., put that in the front of all your binders.  For instance, I just had a simple sheet of paper at the front of all of my binders with rebar sizes and their areas. I knew all I...

Gameplan for the October 2019- SE Lateral Exam

Only thing I can recommend is to really work out the problems before looking at any solutions, etc. This will help to find the "tricks" that the SE exam could have to cause you to apply the incorrect factor, etc.  Just reading over the solutions doesn't let you get "into" the problem in my...

    April 2019 SE Results Thread

I agree this is too long for everyone to wait for the results.  I think that's why NCEES has targeted 2024 for a computer based SE exam.  If you can wait that long then might be the best option.  Otherwise, just try to not think about it and before you know the NCEES email will be in your...

SE Exam Study Plan for someone outside engineering

I don't know what the EET binders consist of.  Although I saw a picture a couple weeks ago and they looked pretty big, so maybe it covers everything you would need.  If EET only covers buildings and you are looking for some bridge study material, then my book should be sufficient to get at least...

SE Exam Study Plan for someone outside engineering

First piece of advice, split the components into different weekends.  Do not do both vertical and lateral the same weekend.  I know there is temptation to try to knock it out all in one weekend, but it rarely ends up being the correct choice.  Plus, you are running low on time. I did lateral...

    Bridge Things

Yes, also please be aware of "Extreme Event Limit State" resistance (phi) factors.  Under the steel chapter, section 6.5.5 the resistance factor (phi) = 1.0 for extreme event limit states, except for certain bolt/shear conditions. There are similar uses of different phi factors for concrete for...

    April 2019 SE Results Thread

Ha, the dirty secret is, I haven't actually done a "real-life" bridge since the early 2000s.  But I can read the AASHTO code and come up with multiple choice bridge questions.
