    Indiana Results are Pending

Knowing they have them at the office would make having to wait all weekend that much worse

    Exam results released past 5/22?

I have been using May 26-27 has the day I can actually start getting nervous about receiving results. Would be a 2-week countdown from today. Results before Memorial Day would be great...not hopeful though

What color will the pencil be?

I have a second pencil if someone wants it. They actually just started off by giving me two (took the SE, so they were smart to give a second, as it didn't take long to burn through the first eraser on the essay portion.) Whoever wants it, just know you need to replace the eraser :)

I just called and found out that Exam results are in...

Seems like that is because of thanksgiving and the holidays - historically the April exams come back a little faster. Last year the first results came out May 20... edit: now that I've said, I'm fully expecting 4th of July for results.

Thoughts from a First Time Exam Taker

That's very interesting to know. I guess if you do it correctly, then they assume you pulled from the right code section.

Thoughts from a First Time Exam Taker

I sat for both Vertical and Lateral last October - passed Vertical so just sat for Lateral this time. When I took Vertical - I really didn't have any problem with time or the questions being tricky. The afternoon portion probably got pretty sloppy towards the end with less code references -...

    Makes sense. Thanks!

PPI's 16-Hour Structural Engineering (SE) Practice Exam for Buildings

Appreciate the clarification - that makes sense when looking at what 11-31 and 11-32 are having us calculate.

    Good luck, everyone!

    Exactly this.

Prob 521 NCEES Civil: Structural Sample Exam

I agree with jimmer. It seems to me the problem was worded poorly. It should've either left the loading off and said "find max moment" or left the load on and went with "find max moment for the following load configuration".

PPI's 16-Hour Structural Engineering (SE) Practice Exam for Buildings

I just took the practice exam this weekend and thought it was well done. I had also previously completed the NCEES practice exam and found it to be a bit easier. But as rmanske said, I like that it was tougher. I like how you forced me to do a topographic adjustment for wind speed. In...

    Question(s) of the Week #1

Exactly right. This is also the case regardless of which direction the load is coming from. And I know how you feel - I'm pretty fried at this point. Worked a rigidity problem last night and tried putting the load through the CR instead of CM so I was getting the opposite effect from...

    Overstrength Factor Applicability Ωo

When you say to design columns for overstrength - do you mean the applied earthquake loads with overstrength factor? And when you say you can still design to the maximum force delivered, are you referring to the expected tension and post-buckling strength of your braces in an eccentrically...

    ASCE 7-10 Ch 27 and 28 Simplified Method for V = 105mph

This was my thought too. I wonder why they just chose to exclude 105 though.

    ASCE 7-10 Ch 27 and 28 Simplified Method for V = 105mph

When going through the simplified methods of Chapters 27 and 28, you need to use Table 27.6-1 and Figure 28.6-1 to determine your net wall pressures. These are for Wind Speeds, V, greater than or equal to 110 mph. My questions is - for risk category I structures, the wind speed map shows a...

    Exam Location Changed

Wow that's frustrating... Are you in Indy like your sig says? If so, why are you driving to Ohio to take it? I'm taking Lateral SE at the fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Passed Vertical last fall and took that at the convention center downtown.
