    Table set up at exam

Well crap, now you just shook me all up. Does that happen? Forget just the price of the books, I'd be more upset that if I come back from lunch and find someone stole a bunch of my references, my afternoon testing is tanked. What do people do? Stay at their table during lunch? Take all their...

    April 2018 PE Exam

FYI I received my testing location info and registration ticket yesterday from NCEES. I received an email notification to log into my NCEES account and it was there. So check your NCEES account folks, you should probably have yours too. I'll be at the Salem Expo center. Looking through the...

Output voltage of a full wave rectifier with an open diode

Where were you last week when I bought the exam? Haha! Also bought the book, which is good, but not having an index makes it extremely hard to navigate quickly. :-( Exam is unlike any of the others. Seems much harder (full page to solve using 3-6 equations at times) than CI, Spin Up, PPI and...

    2 Watt Meter Method

While it's good to learn and know everything electric, just as an FYI, Wattmeters were removed from the 2018 test specifications. So don't stress too much, being less than 3 weeks out, I'd focus on other weak areas that are within the test specs. But that's just my $0.02

    April 2018 Code Books

Bump for answers to this question. I already have NEC (seems most used), NESC, and NFPA 70E. I do NOT have the 3 Hazardous area classification code books (NFPA 497, 499, 30B). Together they cost $200+ shipped, and I'm guessing out of 12 code questions they will be what one maybe 2 questions...

    Practice Tests Power PE

Spin up is another commonly used practice exam book. 5 full exams in one book, though a lot of the questions seem repetitive with slightly different twists. I already went through it and found it to be too easy in my opinion. I haven’t taken the real PE Exam to compare, but most spin up...

Pedestrian Bridge Collapse - Florida International University

Saw this on the news. Very sad. Hopefully forensics will find out what caused it and it can prevent this same error from happening again.

Newbie in BC thinking about taking up engineering

Welcome. One great thing about an engineering degree is that if you get tired of being an engineer, that degree can land you lots of other roles (management etc..). It demonstrates you have discipline and focus. Much better than having a degree in Art History, English Major or other silly...

POWER PE Question For the Week

I just bought the Lanza Spin-Up book of 5 practice exams. I havent started it yet, but I will tomorrow night as I just finished the PPI 2 exam book and Graeffeo book exam. Just thumbing though it I can say that I dont like the choice "e" None of the above on all the questions. While yes, it...

    April 2018 PE Exam

Woo hoo! 1 month into my 3 month study schedule and I finally scored 56/80 for 70% on my last practice exam. Finally what could be a PASS. Breathing a little easier but still not comfortable yet. Getting better but I'd like to be consistently at 80%+, so I have a ways to go over next 2 months...

    April 2018 Code Books

Thanks, I have the table of device numbers, but it appears the actual standard was needed for that problem #139 in the PPI Power Practice Exam. It basically asked what "(27-2)/a" means. From the table I know 27 is an undervoltage relay, but that doesn't yield the correct answer. You need to know...

IEEE C37.2 ??? Yesterday I was taking a practice exam in the Camara PPI Power Practice Exams for the Electrical and Computer PE Exam (EPPE2), and problem # 139 required the IEEE Standard C37.2 I have a partial table of the device numbers in one of my random reference books and I know some of...

    April 2018 PE Exam

How's it going folks? Looks like this is the sticky for the April 2018 Power PE Exam, so figured I'd post up here. I originally planned on taking this in Oct 2018 (1st time BTW) but found out that I can actually take it in April 2018 before I finish my 4 yrs experience, so I got caught off...

National Electric Safety Code C2 IEEE 2017

I would double check that. My understanding is that as far as the NESC the handbook is only a side reference to the code and the codebook is separate. As opposed to NEC where the handbook includes all the code + additional walk through and thus the handbook is most often the recommended choice...

    Stuff to bring to test

^^^^^ Dang! I admire the creativity. haha!  :D  Sounds like the quote below is about right. I don't envy you civil engineers. I'll keep it simple with my backpack though. Sounds like the proctors are ridiculously anal, barring folks from even allowing turning a milk crate upside down as a shelf...
