    Mosul Dam

All Kuwaitis aged roughly 30 and older still remember when Saddam Hussein invaded and the United States rolled through and drove his forces back north in 96 hours.  I'll put it to you this way.  The Udari range (where all of our troops, gun trucks, fighter aircraft, etc launch round after round...

Okay, so 115 degrees fahrenheith here is hot, but the lack of humidity is absolutely a game changer.  You sweat, but you don't get wet, because the sweat evaporates so quickly, that you're basically dry while you are walking around.  BUT... the major difference is that the air actually feels...

Reading back through what I expected the timeline to be a month ago just makes me laugh now.  God, this deployment has been really weird.  Anyway, I'm in Kuwait now, finally having those meetings I should have had a month ago.  Fun times.  Last time I was here was back in 2009.  Oh the memories...

    Waiting again for Jurisprudence

Well, it certainly does call into question my scores from the past three administrations, and I asked if they had those, but they said no.  Unfortunately, I have to just move forward from here.  Though, when I took the exam in April 2015, I actually wrote to the board representative at that time...

    Waiting again for Jurisprudence

So, I contacted the board representative last week and asked if there was any way I could get feedback about what I did right / wrong on the exam so that I could better prepare for the next attempt.  I explained I have never failed a test 4 times in a row and I really don't know what I'm doing...

    Moving on - surveying exam

So, I chatted with the two surveyors on the CT board.  They were real nice and told me the percentages that I got right in each area.  Then we went through a few of the questions that I got wrong, four in fact, and one of them turns out I got right.  So, they will give me credit for that one...

    Moving on - surveying exam

I'm not sure how much help it will be, but I'm glad they are willing.  They actually said I could meet with them in Hartford and go over it, but since I'll be in Winchester, VA, the phone is the next best thing.

    Gator at Disney

I grew up swimming in lakes in central Florida.  Hell, I even would see gators on the far banks of some of the lakes I swam in.  I was never really concerned because I knew that gators don't typically attack humans (especially not teenager sized humans), to stay out of the murky water, only swim...

    Gator at Disney

I just get defensive I guess because I hate to think about these parents who really are doing nothing worse than anybody else and suffer a terrible tragedy but also have the ridiculous burden of having to deal with judgement and hurtful comments from the court of public opinion.  I could not...

I feel the same about the gorilla story.  The parent didn't do anything wrong there either.

    Gator at Disney

I just looked it up, in Orland (today, but close enough to two nights ago) sunset is at 8:25 PM, civil twilight from 8:25 to 8:52, nautical twilight until about 9:25 PM and astronomical Twilight begins after that.  Civil twilight and nautical twilight there is still visibility. ...

Actually, MA, you're not correct.  Florida is quite a bit further west than Massachussets.  9 PM in Florida has a different amount of light than 9 PM in Boston.  That said, I'm not saying it's full blown daylight, I'm saying it's still quite bright.  There is enough light left to play on the...

Plus it's still pretty bright this time of year at 9 PM in Florida.  Kid probably couldn't have slept even if his parents tried to put him down.  Most likely, they were winding down after a day in the parks, dad was probably sitting there letting the kid get the last of his energy out before...

Hey @DuckFlats, whereabouts did you grow up?  I'm a product of the Polk County School System myself.  Grew up in Davenport, graduated from Haines City High School. Now, about the gators.  Yes, it is a well established fact that Florida's water bodies are generally inhabited by gators.  However...

    Moving on - surveying exam

Two members of the board have agreed to review my last test with me over the phone next week to help me understand what I'm doing wrong and how to better prepare for my next try.  That is pretty cool.

    Moving on - surveying exam

The FS exam was really easy.  The PS exam to me was fairly easy as well.  The State Specific exam is really a law exam, specifically, a statutes exam covering a litany of topics and focusing on very obscure references deep in the statute and case laws pertaining to surveying.  I really don't...

    Moving on - surveying exam

On second thought, **** that.  I'm going to take it in April 2017.  And I'm going to burn that mother to the ******* ground.

    Moving on - surveying exam

I tried four times to pass the CT state surveying exam.  I didn't pass any of those tries.  I'm not going to get all mad about it, even though I think it is ******** that they don't tell you what you got wrong or provide any study resources prior to the exam.  So, I'm just moving on.  I'm going...
