Do you think the number of PEs will increase?

This thread is 12 years old and discussing long term ramifications on the engineering field. Does anyone have any recent info answering the initial question?

Using PE but paretheses another state

What if you were talking about a resume instead of a business card? As in, in am trying to relocate to New Hampshire but a PE in New Mexico? I can understand how a business card could be considered "practicing", but IMHO a resume isn't "practicing". I also prefer to not piss off any state boards...

    Engineering Education

I think the guy has interesting points, and my "1st year in college self" would agree with him much more than my "11 years out of college with a PE self". I don't agree with his comparison to a musician, I think that's a little bit of a reach. Say he compared it to someone studying elementary...

PE Civil and Construction Depth Exam Prep and Reference Materials

All sold. Anyone selling, DON'T FORGET ABOUT CRAIGSLIST. While this process is easy, that process is easier.

    Formwork for concrete Reference book

Keep in mind, realistically if you buy it new, pass the first time and resell the book your $250 SP4 really costs $50 after you sell it for $200. The risk you have is they don't change to Rev 9. Unlikely IMO for this particular book. I liked the newer edition personally. Per above, School of PE...

PE Civil and Construction Depth Exam Prep and Reference Materials

Updated list after a couple sales. All reasonable offers will be considered. Everything is in new or very close to almost new shape. All the practice exams are clean and never written in. I've been sending the stuff out the same day I get payment. Quicker turnaround than Jeff Bezos. And because...

Civil - Construction PE Study Schedule

SOPE will tell you in the class they don't provide enough of the resources and you need to buy the recommended references at a minimum. I didn't get out of the room before the 15 minute warning and had to stay. I was able to find the right answer in the OSHA and Steel Manual  to 2 "lookup"...

PE Civil and Construction Depth Exam Prep and Reference Materials

Basically everything you will need to take the Construction Exam. Everything is new or very close to new. No rips/tears or writing in the pages. Some of this stuff hasn't even been opened, or maybe was opened once on test day. All Editions/years should be listed but they were the current...

Why does Construction have a low pass rate?

One thing that dawned on me that I remember from studying and came up over and over again going through the SoPE class. The way I do stuff in the field, estimating in the office, etc. is not by the book and definitely not academic. I vehemently disagreed with a lot of the "means and...

Why does Construction have a low pass rate?

I agree with all points, and I'd like to hear more. The biggest to me is: - thought that it's "easy", but really you have to know a decent amount from lots of subsections- cranes, schedule, safety, mix designs, estimating and about 40 more - it sucks a lot to drop $900 on reference materials...

Why does Construction have a low pass rate?

Any theories? 59% Pass Rate for first time takers, I think only Mining and Mineral Processing at 57% was lower.

How did you process PE Questions?

This is a complicated question- basically I am trying to get a bead on how to read/process the PE Questions. Everything I have heard/read on this board is that the test tries to confuse you and if you aren't paying attention they will get you with simple answers. So I'm working though the...

    Construction Exam Reference Materials

Great advise, but I looked into that and came up empty. The one in my office is the 13th Edition, but the bigger issue is I work as a consultant in the clients office, so my office (and the contents) really isn't my office. I've reached out to my "home office" but there has been lukewarm...

    Construction Exam Reference Materials

If anyone wants to unload their reference materials I will buy them. I am looking for the following: ASCE 37- Design Loads on Structures During Construction, 2014 NDS- National Design Specification for Wood Construction, 2012 CMWB- Standard Practice for Bracing Masonry Walls Under...
