    This Week...

I can definitely relate. It’s like a constant dread-induced stomach ache. Fingers crossed for some news tomorrow... preferably good!

    The wait is killing me

Not to be a total sociopath... but I did just compare previous exam review dates listed in the Licensure Exchanges to exam release dates. In 2016, my state (Maine) released on May 19th and the last exam review (industrial) was scheduled May 21st. My thought here is that its possible no one in...

    Bummer! But good to know!

    The wait is killing me

Seems like Thursdays and Mondays have been reoccuring release dates, at least in my state (which generally releases with the bulk of the country). Based on the last two years, it seems like this Thursday 5/17 has potential, or possibly Monday 5/21... but who really knows!

    The wait is killing me

Ugh yes, the wait is awful! I left feeling relatively okay, but the more time that’s passed, the more I’ve second guessed everything. My most distressing thought of late is “what if I skipped a bubble somewhere on my answer sheet and all my answers were one problem off?!” Unlikely, but still...

    PE exam cbt conversion

I imagine it would be the same... I took the FE this past May and was not a fan of the dry erase notebook/ marker set up at all. They are also making it so that it’s not all multiple choice anymore, with some fill in the blanks, selecting parts of a diagram, etc. so there goes the 25% chance at...

For Test Takers PE Mechanical TFS April 2018

I’ve done it - a lot of people have referred to it as a “confidence crusher” because many questions are a bit obscure and require you to find that one equation buried deep in the MERM to solve. However the other questions seem to be pretty on par with NCEES. Overall I’d say it’s the same level...

TFS practice problem of the week...

Doesn’t say but if you assume the manometer fluid is mercury it works out!

    Practice Exam Difficulty

Now that I’ve actually had a chance to review some the solutions, I can see that many of the questions are actually quite simple if you can wade through all the superfluous information and focus on just what they are looking for. Everytime I saw a giant steam plant diagram my brain freaked out...

    Practice Exam Difficulty

Just completed a mock trial of this test, though I broke it up to 4/hrs over two days. 46/80.... nowhere near where I want to be < 3 weeks out, but at least I’ve identified that I really struggle with all the power plant type questions. I have no memory of these types of problems back in...

Heat transfer - Thermal Conductivity Values

The MERM (13ed) has a small list of k values at 32F in the appendix, A-110. There’s also some insulation-specific k values for varying temps on 34-11. It’s been enough to get me through any practice questions, though I’m sure there are more comprehensive lists out there.

For Test Takers PE Mechanical TFS April 2018

First time taker here. I started out just reading the MERM and working practice problems along the way, but I quickly got overwhelmed, so signed up for Dr. Tom’s Classroom review course so I’d have more direction. I finished at the end of February and have since done SMS 3x’s and NCEES 2016...

If you leave the FE exam feeling horrible...

Thank you!! I’m studying to take the PE in April!

If you leave the FE exam feeling horrible...

It’s 8.5”x14”, as the Pearson video indicates. You can erase, but it is not easy, so perhaps practice by crossing things out rather than using an eraser as you make mistakes in your studies. It does feel clunky to be writing in marker on glossy paper when you’ve spent your entire academic career...

If you leave the FE exam feeling horrible...

This post is just to give hope to those who are awaiting their FE exam results and feel like they bombed it.  I took the FE last year, 6 years out of college. I studied hard but the exam day panic quickly overtook me. I spent 40 extra minutes on the morning session, drastically cutting into my...

    ENGPROGUIDES

Let me know how that goes for you, I’m doing TFS but I’ve also completed Dr Tom’s and so far SMS (3+ times through) and the 2016 NCEES (working on 2nd pass) have been my only problem sets. I also have the new PPI practice exam and am trying to decide if I should get the EngPro Guides and Slay...

    Dr. Tom's Classroom

@Sheshtawy thanks I will look into both of those sample test options! I’ve previously purchased the PPI test but I’ve heard since that it not very representative of the actual exam? I haven’t looked through it yet... @ME_VT Studying in general is just brutal! I leave the dtc lessons feeling...
