    Safest US States for Drivers

I suspect these numbers would be quite a bit different if the denominator was "miles driven."

    Cats versus Dogs

Seems to make sense to me--who wants to walk a dog when it's below zero and/or snowing a lot?

That can't be right... I LOVE cold pizza.  In fact, I wait for it to get cold before I'll eat it.

This.  And we're moving into hayfever season.

Sometimes you just need to scream!!!

@leggo PE I would second/third the idea of rolling into an IRA instead of your new 401k.  You have little control over the investment options in a 401k, but you can invest in anything you want in an IRA.  I'd love to be able to roll my 401k into an IRA so I could pick what to invest in, but you...

    VEGAS - OCT 19th - Jimmy Buffett

Shhh... Sammy Davis is the "secret" way to get around the strip without all the mess of the Blvd. So there's like more people going through that intersection in a day than live in all of Wyoming, right?  It's going to be  CF when the stadium opens.

    VEGAS - OCT 19th - Jimmy Buffett

Vdara has a nice setup for long-term stays.  You're right next door to Aria and Cosmo, tram ride to Bellagio.  Rooms all have kitchenettes and laundry, and it's about half the cost of Cosmo.  Cosmo is great for a vacation stay, but I wouldn't want to work out of there for months--just too busy. ...

    Garmin Hack

I stumbled across the article the other day too.  Didn't know you could deduct extortion payments and blackmail too!  But the IRS wants receipts so you need your friendly local Mob merchant to mail you an invoice.

I can't imagine riding a bike up there.  I got out of breath just walking from the car to the summit at 14k feet.

    The 2019 Garden Thread

Gardening is my wife's hobby, and therefore mine as well.  I'm not sure what we're going to do with all this stuff.  We still have frozen green beans from two years ago, and 20+ quarts of tomatoes from last year.  And we can only eat so many pickles. One sad part is there is no corn.  I've not...

    The 2019 Garden Thread

Ha ha, we have like six zucchini plants!  Usually I take all the extra to work, but won't have the option this year. My wife also went overboard with the cucumber plants.  Three or four is plenty and we've got at least 15.  Need to start making pickles I guess.

    The 2019 Garden Thread

Our tomatoes are just starting. Getting lots of cucumbers and zucchini.  Picked about a gallon of green beans yesterday. Our everbearing strawberries seem to be dying off, which is concerning.  I'm wondering if they're not getting enough water.

I dunno, seems like they made an honest mistake that a lot of people, including myself, could have easily done.  And it sounded like it got delivered to you the next day?  Unless they sat on it for a long time with no intention of fixing the situation then I don't really get the "people suck"...

DHL used to be terrible too, but I think they got out of the residential delivery business. My dad owned a box truck and used to contract for Fedex.  Lets just say they aren't any better to their contractors than they are to their customers. A couple weeks ago I was getting a TP delivery from...

    Min Wage in Each State

The federal government can only regulate interstate commerce under the constitution. They claim anyone making over $500k in sales is automatically interstate and a lot of other things like employees who use a phone are engaged in interstate commerce. But theoretically there may be some employees...

^That sounds exactly like stories everyone I know who mountain bikes tells, and then says, "you should try it!"  My favorite is my coworker that injured himself to the point where he was hospitalized with a kidney injury and still says I should get into it.  No thanks.
