    Home Improvement/Repair Questions

I had a friend that had a house in a similar style to that. Not quite as hardcore 70s as that, but it had the spiral staircase and a koi pond in the living room.

Last thing watched on netflix / Amazon..................

That's an insult to Norm. Bob Vila's an *******, sellout narcissist. But yes I agree as far as promoting their respective fields (although Norm is actually a carpenter too)

    2020 Football (NFL / NCAA)

I don't really follow NFL, but I hate the Packers. Online sports betting became legal in Michigan Friday, so I put my first-ever online sports bet on the Bucs to beat the spread. Doubly sweet to see the pack lose AND make money on it.

Last thing watched on netflix / Amazon..................

We watched the first two seasons when it was on broadcast and it was decent. Eventually we'll get a Netflix subscription and watch the third season, now that we have a good enough internet connection to be able to stream.

Sort of like this?  You can see this monster coming for about two miles.

    The Cooking Thread

Just to pile on. . . yes!  We canned about 50 quarts of tomatoes from our garden this year.  Just made spaghetti sauce with some this weekend.  I add some tomato paste to thicken it a little.  So, two quarts of canned tomatoes, 15 oz-ish of tomato paste, two pounds of meat, plus seasoning.  We...

    The Cooking Thread

Turned out pretty good, especially since it was my first time smoking a turkey.  I did learn not to make gravy from the drippings of a brined, smoked turkey.  Extremely smoky & salty!

    The Cooking Thread

I'm smoking a turkey tomorrow.  First time I've tried smoking a turkey.  Going to use the leftovers to make enchiladas for Christmas.  Don't ask, that's just what my wife wants.

I'm guessing your husband is happy with that too. (I have no clue what you're talking about but it sounds so dirty so keep it up!)

So are you thinking along the lines of nuclear energy?  Kind of curious because I haven't heard of anyone going into that field in a long time.

    2020 Confessionals...

Would this just be for fun or are you looking to change career fields? I had two Physics majors as roommates in college.  One is now a professor of nuclear physics in Japan and the other is a merchant mariner.

Most popular Christmas gift in each state

We're cheap and buy cheap samsung phones.  My wife dropped hers in the toilet and was upset because she had to spend $80 for a new phone.  I can't even imagine spending over $1000 on a phone.

    Umm, I don't think that's a leg?

    The Baking Thread

You can DO IT @leggo PE!  Silpats are the bomb too. So I think I mentioned last year my wife and I made around 60 dozen cookies.  And two giant batches of chex mix.  And snappy cheese wafers that my wife really likes. For me the must-haves for Xmas are the standby chocolate chip cookies and...

I stayed at an airport hotel in Boston last year with a city view, and that bridge looks pretty cool lit up at night.

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

We've stayed in several hotels during the pandemic.  We take a bunch of Clorox wipes and Lysol and wipe/spray everything upon entering the room.  Some hotels (most Hiltons/Hamptons) have digital keys, so you can check in with the app on your phone, pick your own room near the side door and slip...

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

Understand your predicament @JayKay PE.  We drove to Georgia (about 12 hour drive) for Thanksgiving.  After a lot of discussion between us and my family and my wife's family, we've decided to skip Christmas altogether.  Pretty much everyone in both families is high-risk (age, diabetes, immune...
