Travel!! Where are you headed; Where do you want to go? Where have you been?

I'm putting in for the lottery for Brooks Lodge for July 2023 and thinking about what else we might want to do next trip. What are you considering doing in AK next time?

Travel!! Where are you headed; Where do you want to go? Where have you been?

After the previously-mentioned Alaska trip in September (which was incredible!) we spent a week at Myrtle Beach in October (notched Congaree National Park off the list of NPs to visit) and then 10 days in Vegas just before Thanksgiving. "Working remote" sure is nice! Not much on the docket...

I have so many questions -- like where did you store this dead goat the past couple weeks? In a freezer?

    Baseball 2021

The Cubs were terrible this year with their lack of investment, so I'm rooting for the Giants... Kris Bryant got screwed by the Cubs and it'll be great to see a team that actually values him win the WS.

Sure, that's your excuse. I'm sure the boys enjoyed it!

    Finishing a Wood Project

I'm so disappointed in EB. A week of this thread and no sexual innuendo regarding "wood," "hand rubbed," or "eager beaver."

I'm a little late to the party, but I have accounts with Schwab, Fidelity, E*Trade and TDAmeritrade. Of the four, I like E*Trade the best due to its website layout and being able to easily find all their tools and research. I would put Fidelity second. That being said I'm moving away from...

    The Automotive Thread

This is common across all brands now, not just German. Some vehicles the spare tire is an option you can buy. Others, like mine, there is no option for a spare. But at least mine came with a jack and wrench so I can remove the wheel if necessary.

So are you going to Silver Dollar City?

What's the Work From Home situation?

In many cases you don't even have to live in the same state. And we're hiring engineers like crazy.

What's the Work From Home situation?

We can't work from the office until July 1. After that, pretty much everyone has the option to work from home forever. Over half the company has chosen that option, though they may come into the office from time to time as necessary.

Travel!! Where are you headed; Where do you want to go? Where have you been?

@Dleg Are you in any of the rental companies' frequent renter programs? Taking National as an example, they don't show any cars available if I check their website in ANC in late June, but if I log into my account then they have some cars available. Worth a shot at signing up for their program...

Do you need a rental car in Fairbanks? I hear they're really hard to come by right now.

This happened to us in a hotel once. I don't recall why but I wasn't able to remove the battery for some reason so I took the detector down, wrapped it in a towel and shoved it in a drawer so we couldn't hear it any more.

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

I also read that the treatment for these types of blood clots (with low platelet count) is opposite of how most blood clots are treated (with heparin) and they wanted to make sure doctors were aware to not just automatically use the normal treatment.

    Home Improvement/Repair Questions

You know what's even worse than honeysuckle? Blackberries. And wild roses. Not only do they grow back no matter what you do to them, they have nasty thorns that make it really hard to get at the base of the plant without tearing you up. I've taken to doing what you mentioned and abusing my...

Travel!! Where are you headed; Where do you want to go? Where have you been?

With the pandemic showing signs of receding, there's some travel deals to be had out there. I convinced the wife to book a trip to Alaska for the week of Labor Day. Delta started a nonstop from Detroit to Anchorage this summer, and first class roundtrip was $720 which seems like a steal for 6...

Baseball is back! And Michigan now has legal online sports betting. This could be bad--but so far I'm in the black.

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

Seems like states that discourage unions would be even more likely to let employers force whatever they want (like vaccines) on employees?

    ~~**-- The Weather Thread --**~~

This is a rite of passage for spring around here. As the frost thaws there is nowhere for the water to go, so it's super mud every spring. As a kid I would lose a boot in the mud at least once every spring. We've had some nice sunny days here lately. With highs around 10 degrees F.
