But they need all that crap to slip in all the affiliate links that generate them money.  No one blogs (including sharing recipes) to actually share information any more, it's solely to generate revenue.

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

Just keep in mind with SW, if you cancel your flights, you have to reuse the credit within 12 months of when you first bought the original ticket.  I got burned by this when I booked a flight with a credit, and the flight was cancelled and I HAD to use the credit within a couple months.

Yesterday was abnormally nice for March in Michigan--sunny and 60 degrees.  So I started working on the blown brake line in the Jeep.  Things went unusually well (I managed to get the old brake line off and remove the vacuum canister that was in the way without breaking any rusted bolts, etc.)...

@Road Guy How much do you think I can get for this in Denver?  I wonder if it's worth renting a U-haul and driving it over.

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

I just booked a cruise last week..... It's not until December.  I'm hoping the epidemic is over by then.  I'm going to hold off buying the plane tickets to get to Miami until some of this settles out.

This is a '97 XJ (Cherokee) Sounds like something I may be able to tackle.  Probably a lot cheaper than a shop. Last time I busted a brake line I did drive it to the shop with only rear brakes, but it was less than a mile away and speed limits of 25 mph.  Since I've moved--there's very little...

I was plowing snow last week in my Jeep and blew a brake line.  Almost took out my neighbor's mailbox, but managed to steer to avoid it--just ended up with a big scratch down the side of the Jeep. The line broke inside the front-right wheel well, and from there it goes through the fender and...

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

So my work just announced our COVID19 policy.  No business related international travel.  (We're a domestic company so this isn't really a big deal.)  If you or anyone in your household travels to any of the countries on the CDC list, you can't come to work for 14 days.  If you can't work...

Nutrition, Diet, and Exercise: Notes, Goals, and Resources (these people just keep talking about crossfit)

I'm not an expert like a lot of the others here, but I exercise first thing in the morning.  I find I have more energy for the work day this way.  The last thing I want to do after work is go work out.

    Baseball 2020

I've been a fair weather Tigers fan all my life, but with a record of 0.292 last year (the worst in MLB) obviously I'm not paying much attention to them these days. I'm also a Cubs fan by marriage, which is much more exciting.  If they could get their bullpen in decent shape they could have...

So his original launch was postponed, but he pulled off a couple launches.  And (big surprise) killed himself in the process of his third flight.  Now we'll never know if the Earth is flat. https://www.npr.org/2020/02/23/808645524/daredevil-mad-mike-hughes-killed-in-crash-of-homemade-rocket

    Cash Back Rewards Cards Thread

All of my work travel has to go on a company card, which sucks! But yeah, a good portion of my hilton points came from sign up bonuses, which usually require $3-4k in spend in 3 months to get the bonus.  We spend about $40k/year on credit cards personally and as TJ mentioned I've been lucky...

    Cash Back Rewards Cards Thread

TJ and I have a travel hacking PM that's been going on for two and a half years... So imagine our excitement when someone brings this up in a public thread! The first thing I'll say is the credit card game can be a slippery slope, you'll be tempted to get more and more cards, and outside of...

    EB Cycling Club

I second what csb said.  There's an enormous difference between a hybrid and a road bike.  Every person and bike is different, but I average almost 3 mph faster on my road bike than the hybrid.  But the hybrid is a lot more comfortable for commuting and on the crappy roads we have around here. ...

Make sure you blast the CW McCall song the whole time you're riding that trail! I've got a buddy that tried to do it a couple years ago but he was too early in the season and there was too much snow.  I might check and see if he's done it since them.

    Home Improvement/Repair Questions

We have a permanently mounted propane heater in the garage.  It hangs from the ceiling, with a chimney going straight up through the roof.  Whoever installed it was a moron because they didn't flash the chimney, and it leaked.  But I flashed it myself after I bought the house. I'm thinking...
