Everything you wanted to know about the CA-Survey/Seismic Civil PE Exams

I'm pretty sure the "70% pass rate" is related to the Laws and Regulations exam. And NOT the two Civil Seismic Principles or Engineering Surveying exams. The Laws and Regulations exam is the one the applicant takes, through the Connect system, shortly after submitting the new application.

I don't believe so. Where did you see that? Screen shot?

States that require experience to sit for the NCEES PE Exams

FYI - heard recently that Maine just passed a law allowing for decoupling (PE and SE) which I believe will become effective later this spring. So you may see a change on NCEES's website soon.

States that require experience to sit for the NCEES PE Exams

It's a little more nuanced than what you are providing based upon the title of this thread and the chart. Technically speaking, the majority of the states, which allow for "decoupling", require both 1) the minimum education component and 2) previously passing the FE exam prior to allowing you...

Need references to get my license

Well that could certainly be the case haha. I was thinking someone from another state.

Need references to get my license

Not trying to be argumentative but I have no idea where your co-worker got that idea because that is incorrect. What I mentioned above has been in place for over two decades at least, if not longer. What discipline of license was your co-worker applying for?

Need references to get my license

California doesn't require the references to be licensed in California. Just licensed or authorized to practice in the jurisdiction where the claimed work experience occurred (e.g. where project was located)

Do all states have Env. E PEs?

I believe we're pretty much saying similar things.

Do all states have Env. E PEs?

Not in all licensing jurisdictions. About 10 jurisdictions consider SE as "additional authority" requiring a PE (in some for or other first) while the majority of others mix in SE licenses with the generically issued PE licenses. And Illinois is simply an outlier. I'm not saying one form or...

Do all states have Env. E PEs?

Try telling that to the other licensing jurisdictions (some VERY close to CA) who issue a PE license to those applicants who have NO actual work experience in engineering but TONS of education. Realistically speaking, even though it is not a requirements, the majority of the engineer applicants...

Do all states have Env. E PEs?

This is an interesting tangent and one I wouldn't had expected in this line of posts. What a lot of people miss (and I'm not sure if its like this in other states or just CA) is that the reason or purpose behind the SE requirement is due to two other code sections in state law which are NOT...

Do all states have Env. E PEs?

The CA Board does participate in ABET visits as 'Board Observers' on an annual basis and that is ONLY when the educational program agrees to allow that. Suffice to say, there are several universities in CA which do not like representatives of the Board in attendance and while I can speculate as...

Do all states have Env. E PEs?

When I posted about the effort to add the Environmental Engineer license a few years, that effort was not made by the CA Board. It originated by a group that very openly stated the reason was to support a few members of their group who did not qualify by education or experience for existing...
