Good Morning,

I am interested in putting my license to use. I am Mechanical by trade. However I lack experience in what seems to be popular for Mechanicals (MEP, HVAC, Fire Protection, etc.). In my full-time career I deal with aerospace systems and components. But I am willing to tap into MEP, calculations, drawings, ect. I have 15yrs of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and design experience. Any recommendations on where I should seeks some work. I tried Upwork but keep striking out. I think that it is because I did not explain much of my experience and that is due to nature of the work can't be disclosed.

I don't know if you're still interested in getting an answer to this question but I'll still go ahead.

You can try getting some advice on YouTube on how to work your way around on Upwork in your field of expertise.

You can try LinkedIn as some job offers are usually uploaded in the Jobs area. You can search for other Freelancing sites and try them out. Some freelancing sites I know from the top of my head are Legit, Simplyhired, Freelancer, and Peopleperhour.

MEP can be tough to get started on. Started my own firm a few years back. Personally worried the economy is gonna squeeze so afraid to hire, sure you’re dealing with that problem everywhere. Used to work for Nasa and that aerospace word can be considered a bad word in a lot of industries, definitely lean on the “I can get sh*t done” more than the “I get sh*t done right” phrasing. If you screw up in aerospace, bad things happen, if you screw up in HVAC (what you’d likely be doing in MEP), people will be too cold/too hot and you cost the owners 10s of thousands not millions.
