I submitted my Application March 11, and it has been under technical review since late march. I suspect it will be a long time before I get approval to take the tests. I saw on reddit someone who submitted their application July 2021 got approval to take the tests within the last week, almost a year later.

It seems like this is probably the time frame, minimum 6 months. Anyone else have a long evaluation period?

I submitted my application March 11 2022, and it has been under technical review since late March. It seems like the wait times are very long; I saw someone on Reddit who applied in July 2021, and got approval to take the tests within the last week, almost a year later.

I guess I just need to keep waiting.

@CAPLS I submitted my application mid February and have been under technical review since the beginning of May, would you also be kind enough to provide a status update?

Anyone else want me to check, please send a PM with your name and application number if you have it

So I just got the email that I am approved to take the state exams! Great news right? Not, really, I clicked the link to schedule the tests and Q3 is not an available. So I have to schedule for Q4.

As a way of background, I applied Mid March 2022. So if I pass both on the first try it will be almost a year and if I do not it will probably be over a year from application. That is assuming Q1 will still be available if I have to request re-exam in Q4

So much for the tests being offered on a continuous basis. Remember we are only 8 days into Q3.

I have been more than understanding with the "temporary" flood of applications, but that is gone.

Yeah they only let you take the test the following two quarters from when you get approved. Took me from July 2021 to March 2022 to finally get approval to take the two state exams lol

I just finished reviewing/practicing the Reza book two times and wanted something more to practice problem solving.

I have a Fundamental of Surveying Reference Handbook and an NCEES Fundamental of Surveying Practice Exam. Are these good for practicing for CA Surveying exam?

I submitted mine in February and it is still under "technical review". I just called the board and the operator told me that there is only one person reviewing civil applications and would not give me any timeframe as to when it might be done. I am pretty frustrated.

same here... one person reviewing hundreds of applications? what a friggin clown show the Board is! a 1 year turnaround is ridiculous and unacceptable! outsource the work! bring in temps! we should all show up at the board meeting and complain.

Edit: i just filed a complaint with the DCA.CA.GOV. i just cannot accept that the board is allowing this to continue. one evaluator for the largest discipline? what a joke.

The Board has more than one Registrar reviewing Civil Engineer applications. All applications sent to technical review in Quarter 1 were reviewed in Quarter 2 and either approved or sent a deficiency notice. Submittal date is not the important date for processing because an application is not reviewed until it is considered complete (e.g., transcripts received by the Board for claimed education, a minimum of four references completed Part B of the Engagement Record and Reference Forms, completed the Laws & Regulations exam). Once an application is complete, it is sent to technical review. Applications are reviewed in the order sent to technical review.

While the above may be true, it does not mean that applications submitted in Q1 were sent to tech review in Q1. Can you give the stat for how long it sat in "review" before it was moved to technical review. For me application submitted Q1, in tech review Q2 and approved Q3. First available test Q4. I am sorry but that is not acceptable.

You are correct that not all applications submitted in Q1 were sent to technical review in Q1; an application isn't sent to technical review until it is complete.

Have you reached out to the Board to get a status update on your application?
