VIRGINIA - RESULTS

Recommended Posts

Below is an e-mail I sent to DPOR in Virginia, an *********'s response.

Jarey

To DPOR,

When do you expect the PE results to be release by NCEES?

Will the board add the names of the engineers who passed, to the licensure look-up, before the notification letter is sent?

Hello Jeff,

I usually do not receive the PE results until the last week in December. I usually takes me 3 days to process them and mail out. Yes, once the scores are posted to the records and the final check is ran and completed. The candidates who passed and was issued a license, their names will appear on the licensure look-up before the mailing goes out.

Here is an answer from NCEES,

Jarey

Mr. Arey,

NCEES is preparing results for release as soon as possible, probably in the next two weeks. After we release results to the states, each state board has its own internal procedure for releasing scores to candidates. Some states take longer to release results than others.

National pass/fail statistics will be updated to our website with a day or so after scores are released to the state boards.

Regards,

From Jarey's messages can we assume this time line?

Sometime in the next two weeks NCEES will release the scores

1-2 days after that NCEES will post the national statistics

1-2 days after that DPOR will update the web look-up

Here's to seeing national statistics (and my name on DPOR's site) VERY soon!

I figured based on the last two years Virginia results will be the week of 1/5/09. I am taking two weeks off through Christmas and New Years and plan to start studying just in case. It would be nice to know before Christmas but that is the way it goes. I hope everyone does well and has a great Holiday.

Last summer, I was having a lot of fun in this forum while trying to guess what would be my luck in April 2008 PE Exam result.

I went to the same exam center as before, the main difference was on the size of the exam rooms, and number of examinees. Some of the faces were the same, and we exchanged smiles and "hello!". Why did the number of examinees increase?

Anyway, I am back to EB for the information on the exam results. Last summer, I was addicted to this website until that luck defining moment. The first news on the Exam result came right here at early 6 am that changed the life of many fellow engineers. This time, I am not that optimistic that I will make it. I know my performance level this time is slightly below the borderline (the size of the variance will be my luck). No matter what is my performance in the exam, I am still interested in the result and that is why I am back to EB. It is chasing me, just like :sharkattack:

So what? Lets post our feeling, expectations, and any clue but no HOAX, please :p10940623:

Last time, the result (VA DPOR) was out between 70-80 days. If I remember correctly, AZ was the first to get the result. VA was not in that bad shape as compared to CA.

Lets start. It is 54th day after the exam was over. So, 16-25 more days.

I wish you all the best.

:smileyballs:

I checked the VDPOR WEB site this morning and it states the following:

The Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation Licensee Lookup Site is currently unavailable.

Please check back soon.

We apologize for the inconvenience

From experience does this mean they are adding new names today?

Got this from DPOR this morning (in response to my email yesterday)

Good Morning,

NCEES has only released results to ELSES states, which we are not part of. They will sent to those states first, alphabetically. Then, around the end of the month (12 weeks from the exam), they will be released to the other states, alphabetically. So you should be getting the results about when expected - approximately the first week of January.

I am in ARIZONA but haven't got my result yet.

I have a theory that they send the results via Pony Express...Arizona is a long way from Clemson, SC.

In the same limbo. DPOR takes too much time to release results. I wish they could imagine the state of the economy and release the results early this one time so people can intensify their job search.

I am currently in a holding pattern because I can't send out resumes without the PE, its practically useless. So i have to wait to see if I got in before I start flooding the market.

Congrats!

Last April Exam: on April 11,2008

AZ got the result first: Between June 05-09, 2008

October Exam: Oct 24, 2008

Result is out: Today, Dec 17, 2008

It means first result comes out on 8th week (54th Day). Pretty consistent.

So, VA result should be within two weeks from today. For those who passed the exam for the first time, the appearance of their name is proof of their success in the exam. But, how will you know that you passed the exam, e.g. SEI, if your name is already on the DPOR's database as a PE.

Any help!!!!

I e-mailed Mrs ###### yesterday and asked if she would email me when DPOR received the results from NCEES. She agreed.

I will let everyone know when I receive that e-mail.

How many Virginians are waiting out there?

Best wishes to all as we wait - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

My thanks to rarara and KOMAR for sending emails and posting the responses. It looks like we may find out the end of next week, but probably the next week after that.

>>Lynchburg Area

I took the exam in Lynchburg PE Exam Center. I am expecting to visit this exam center a couple of more times.

The result should be out within 2 weeks after AZ gets. If I remember it correctly, then we just wait for a few more days.

Hope brings us aspirations. I am hoping for a miracle. Miracle never favored me, and if it favors this time then it will be (Miracle)^2. If so, I will be having a hatrick "PASS". I am really not sure this time whether I should open the envelope by myself, or ask a psychologist friend to open it for me, so that he can tell the truth (either way) in convincing and acceptable form.

I also visited the lynchburg site for the first time this year......I hope I don't have to go back....but if I do pass, I have to wonder if I really deserve it?

Recent ASCE's monthly newsletter mentioned that the SE is currently recognized / designated as a separate category only in 12 states, and a discussion is underway to extend it to all states. IF it is true, many engineers who passed the PE Exam might get another chance to visit Lynchburg, not by choice but as a requirement.

I also wish that the GE category / designation be introduced in all the remaining states. I know its not going to happen in Next Decade or so. Eventually, it has to happen. The only question that is not answered yet is "when?"

I liked the landscape of the Lynchburg area.

When I went there for the first time, I crossed the Blueridge Mountain, and later found an easy access via Roanoke. As I reached there for the first time, I prayed for not going back there in night / early morning hours.

But, the route via Roanoke is really pleasant, safe, and simple. I relied too much on Google Earth. The trouble that I had, particulary, second time was to carry the tons of books to the exam room (almost half a kilometer and lift the items to 4-5 storey equivalent ups and downs). In that sense, I liked the Exam Center in Columbus, OH. Parking lot was just outside the building.

Yes, I remember the flight of stairs I had to climb with my rolling duffy bag full of books. Since it was my first time taking the test I used this bag for it's size to hold a lot of books but also small enough to store easily. Now I now I can basically wheel in a bookshelf full of books. I didn't realize you could strap four milk crates to a hand truck for the test. If I fail I will return with every book I own and can borrow. I will also make notes in 3 ring binders to take as well.

Still waiting for Mrs. XXXXXX to email me that DROP has received the results from Ncees. I guess at this point we will be luck if the DPOR starts updating the licensure look-up next week. She had said earlier it take them 2-3 days to add the names then mail the letters out. So I guess as usual we won't know anything until the first full week of the New Year. :smileyballs:

Isn't Virginia one of the EES states? So does NCEES send the results to VA or to EES who then sends them to VA? If so, you guys are in the same boat with PA and PR. You have to wait on EES to process them and send them to VA. Hang in there!
