You all know the value of a PE so anything you can do to spread the message and bring attention to this is much appreciated.

From AZBTR:

The 54th Arizona Legislative Session is in full swing and legislators have dropped a number of Bills that could greatly affect the Board, its registrant population, and public welfare and safety.

Two Bills the Board would like you to be aware of are Senate Bills 1274 and 1298. Please note that the Legislature is proposing these bills without Board or industry input.

Senate Bill 1274 would change the makeup of the Board’s professional representation. Currently eight professionals and one public member sit on the Board. There is at least one Board member representing each of the five regulated professions. SB 1274 would change the makeup to four non-specified professionals (meaning one profession would not be represented) and five public members, who would be in the majority.

The Board also asks that you read Board staff’s SB 1274 Fact Sheet as it provides a better understanding of the Board’s purpose and processes.

Senate Bill 1298 amends the definition of Engineering Practice, removing language allowing the Board to investigate and discipline non-registrants practicing or offering to practice professional engineering.

Links to the Bills and Fact Sheet are below.

SB 1274

SB 1298

If you have an opinion regarding these or other Bills, it is at this time that you have the opportunity to communicate said opinions with your legislative representative.

The Board plans to send out additional emails to update its professional population of these Bills. Please be on the lookout.

Thank you

This is a follow up email regarding SB 1274 and SB 1298.

The Arizona State Senate Committee on Commerce will discuss both SB 1274 and SB 1298 Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 10am. The Board will be present to speak against both Bills before the committee. This meeting is open to the Public for comment.

The agenda can be found here: https://www.azleg.gov/agendas/02060102122.pdf

A number of non-Arizona resident registrants have inquired as to how they can voice their opinion of a Bill when they do not have legislative representation. These individuals can contact the Bill's sponsor. This information is generally found on the overview page of a Bill on azleg.gov.

As a reminder to Arizona residents wishing to voice their opinion regarding a Bill, you can find the contact information of your legislative representative here: https://www.azleg.gov/memberroster/

Anyone can also comment and indicate whether they are For, Against or Neutral on a Bill through an azleg.gov account. You can create an account here https://apps.azleg.gov/Account/SignOn. If it’s your first time logging in, you will need to register physically at the legislature before you can comment/indicate your position. This prevents bills from being spammed.

Thank you
