Brief Description of Seismic Review course:
This Seismic review course will prepare the participants for the special seismic exam for California Civil PE. The course will explain the seismic design of buildings and structures as required by the California Building Code  2016-Part 2, Vol. 2 which is based on 2015 IBC and ASCE 7-10, and SDPWS 2015.

  • Design for lateral forces (wind vs. seismic)
  • Vibration theory, response of structures to vibration, stiffness, and rigidity
  • Seismic data and seismic design criteria
  • Seismic forces (V, E, Eh, Ev, Fp)
  • Seismic analysis procedures
  • IBC 2015/ 2016 CBC, and ASCE 7-10 Codes seismic requirements for building structures
  • IBC 2015/ 2016 CBC, and ASCE 7-10 Codes seismic requirements for non-structural
  • components

  • Diaphragm theory
