As a Chief Engineer, you will utilise your leadership skills by influencing our Naval Electrical, Automation & Control Engineering Team.  As well as delivery of existing programmes such as UK MoD Successor LV switchboard design & development and Type 23 Power Generation and MCAS Upgrade, your role will be to focus on growing the business through the application of Marine technology to the Naval market and working with key customers such as the US Navy to develop new technologies / system solutions to address future opportunities.

Key Accountabilities


  • Lead the Engineering programmes associated with the Naval EA&C products including completion of Campaign Support, Product Development, Entry-Into-Service, product enhancements and cost reduction activities.
  • Ensure that all safety issues are actively managed in accordance with RRMS requirements including chairmanship of the Project Safety Review Board.
  • Ensure that engineering solutions and changes to Naval EA&C products are defined and validated in accordance with the Engineer Product processes and meet project requirements.
  • Act as the prime technical authority on Naval EA&C products and create effective links with the engineering seniors in customer organisations.
  • Act as the overall resource owner for the Naval EA&C Engineering team, including load / capacity management and people development.




Qualifications
  • Degree qualified or equivalent with extensive relevant engineering leadership experience.
  • Project management and leadership skills should be at a senior level with the ability to demonstrate experience.
  • Excellent negotiation and communications skills and ability to provide evidence of strong people management skills at all levels.
  • Engineering domain knowledge associated with LV switchboard design & development, power and propulsion electrical systems and machinery automation & control would be desirable.
  • Leadership and delivery within a number of significant engineering projects across the product lifecycle.
  • Leadership within complex environments (across internal /customer /supplier /regulatory interfaces).
  • Confidence in taking the lead on complex technical and business issues.
  • Key competencies include: dealing with ambiguity, strategic agility, business acumen, managing through systems, building effective teams, drive for results, decision quality and problem solving.
