Why does one of the questions in test 4 in CI say DC machines do not have hysteresis losses? I thought the correct answer would be stray losses?

Yeah, I had this same problem. Camara pg 42-3 lists losses in a motor... Hysteresis and stray losses exist in dc machines.

DC machines has hysteresis losses and Eddy Current loss as well. Both are part of the core losses. Stray losses exist in due to the distortion of flux because of armature reaction and short circuit current in coil.

I believe DC is not in the PE exam specifications...but is always good to understand DC as well.
