Why is the beam self-weight neglected when solving for the reactions? The problem assumptions state that the imposed dead load does not include the beam self-weight, so to me that means that it should be added. However, the solution in the back does not include the 90plf for the beam.

Am I missing something?

I calc it with the 90plf and I get 28.13kips which is very close to 28. I would always include the self weight especially when they say it is not included. IMO
