Seems to me the solution for #532 on the Electronics NCEES sample is incorrect.

The answer to 532 should be 'B' not 'A'.
The collector voltage is 1.5V for 3ms and 500V for 2ms.
So the average would be 200.9V not 301V.

Right? Am I missing something?

You just have your 2ms and 3 ms switched around. When the base current is high (t0 = 2ms), then the transistor saturates and you have VCEsat = 1.5 Volts. Transistor is turned off for other 3ms.

What this does show is under test pressure, be sure to read the question carefully as there is bound to be an answer that will be "most nearly" for obvious goof ups :i_cry:

Missed this the first time but you will get a faster reponse if you post these types of questions under PE Exam Prep Forum --> Electrical

Yeah, I put this in the wrong forum, thanks for answering. I guess I was confused about when the transistor is "on" vs. "off', and what that implies. Thanks again.
