I'm still in the middle of studying, so I wouldn't call myself an expert on the topic by any means. I've gotten a few things so far on VFD's. The most useful piece of material for me has been this link:

That really helped me understand the concept behind VFD's. I've also printed out the NEMA application guide:

It's free to download, you just have to register with NEMA. I printed this out but haven't run across any problems where I've really needed it yet. Other posts on this board indicate to me that it could come in handy though. Hope this helps!

 
Like mauldinite, I didn't spend much time looking at the NEMA VFD guide before the exam, but I sure am glad I printed it and took it with me. By the way, for whatever reason it wouldn't print correctly for me until I selected the "print as image" option.
