    CA Survey Spring 2018 Results

Hi, I took the CA survey exam on June 30, 2018 and have not received the results via email or US mail. After applying to take the CA survey exam, I received an email stating my application was approved. I did not receive the Authorization To Test via email or US mail. However, I did receive a postcard via US mail stating my deadline to sign up for the Prometric test was approaching. Is anyone else in a similar situation or have any advice on how I can obtain my exam results? I've tried calling the BPELSG contact numbers (1-866-780-537, 916-263-2222) but there is no answer. Thanks, Kathryn
  3. Does anyone know whether if it is allowed to bring in a binder with reference pages inside sheet protectors? The reference material itself wouldn't be 3-hole punched but the sheet protector covering it would be. I know that sleeves or stapled material is not okay but couldn't find anything on this situation- unless sheet protectors are considered "sleeves".

    Senior Project Survey

Hello, I am a senior at Captain John L. Chapin High School in El Paso, TX. I am currently doing my senior project on the topic of planned obsolescence and the possible ways to lessen the occurrence of it. Included is the link to a survey I have created for my project and I would greatly appreciate it if I could get feedback from some people on the topic if at all applicable. Thank you for taking the time to at least read this. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5N2SYJK

  7. I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me if there are a lot questions on the the law/rules/acts for the surveying exam? I know they list the Professional Engineers Act, the Board Rules, and the Subdivision Map Act on the reference list, so I suppose they are fair game. Also, there's the Professional Land Surveyors Act which one of my books mentioned as a reference but isn't listed on the BPELSG site. Should I really bother printing those out and attempting to "study" them? I'm terrible at reading and retaining information, and nothing is more boring and mind numbing then reading things which are written in legal speak. I have the Paul Cuomo book and Mansour's book. Mansour's doesn't even provide anything on the laws/acts and Cuomo covers it briefly. Cuomo's book also says that you wouldn't be tested on the Subdivision Map Act because boundary surveying is beyond the authority of registered civil engineers, but that seems to contradict the board listing it as a reference. The subdivision map act is super long (~100 pages) and I feel reading it or printing it out might yield little benefit, but would love to hear other's opinions. Is there a strategy for studying these types of questions? They come up once in a while in the two practice exams I have, and they often stump me, especially questions about the the laws regarding specific types of boundaries and maps.
  8. Hi All, I'm planning to take CA Survey exam along with NCEES 8 hours exam in April 2017. I have taken 2 undergrad survey classes back in college. My questions are: 1. Does any of you have suggestion for survey review class either seminar or on demand? 2. How long did you study for survey exam or how long do you suggest to study? Thanks in advance.

EET helped me PASS the NCEES PE Exam

I normally don't do this but I feel strongly about the program that helped me pass the NCEES PE Exam (8 hour), Engineering, Education & Training (EET). I passed the seismic using Hiner, I passed the surveying using Reza combined with Monsour. But the NCEES PE Exam was a different animal. Simply put it's a lot of information. A little history: Being new to the work force and having debt from school and getting myself situated, I didn't want to spend any more money on schooling. I already paid for programs to pass Seismic and Surveying but the 8 hour I thought would be general enough that I wouldn't need any more programs. After making copies of anything I could find, finally caving in to take 2 different programs to pass the PE and still failing, I was at my wits end. I had several binders of too much material and nothing was efficient or made sense. A coworker who had passed seismic with EET said she couldn't vouch for the 8 hour because she passed it before after paying for some other program that did not help her but her experience with the Seismic instructor with EET convinced her that EET really wanted to help and it wasn't all about the money (which by the way is very reasonable.) I did not want to do it, I was afraid of wasting my time and money but I needed help. So I contacted them and actually spoke to the instructors and I got a good feeling so I signed up for Fall 2013 with EET at their web site www.eet-california.com. They were the best, they guided me from beginning to end. They keep their classes small, so that they can give personal attention and I mean they call and send emails to check that your studying and doing your assignments. They really get to know you. Your assignments include weekly homework as well as mini-quizzes or quick impromptu questions. The format made sense, I threw out all the old Binders of too much material and organized what I needed. I missed passing the October 2013 exam by 5 points (assuming a passing score of 56/80) but I was motivated! That was the closest I ever got. I was usually missing the exam by around 11 points and I couldn't get any closer. So I signed up again with EET for Spring for the April 2014 exam and PASSED!!! Side note: Both times my depth module was TRANSPORTATION. Sorry for the long post, but if you are someone that needs to be pushed, especially by someone who really cares and wants to see you succeed, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EET. I wish I had found them sooner. I hope this helps.
  13. I am preparing for the April 2014 California Civil Surveying Exam. I am looking for a good online review course that I can use to supplement my studies. Can anyone recommend any of the following courses? If you have used any of these resources (or any other resources), please let me know your thoughts. 1. ppi2pass: CA Civil Surveying Live Online Review Course 2. Dr. Mansour's Surveying Problem Solving Worshop 3. Irvine Institute of Technology: Engineering Surveying Live off-site Web Seminar I used Hiner's manual and his online Seismic review course and felt that both really helped me pass the seismic exam. Is there anything comparable for the surveying exam?

CA civil first time pass rate

There are stats on the NCEES site about first time pass rates, but there is nowhere (that I have found) that says what the first time pass rate is in CA, passing all three exams at the same time... Anyone have any idea?
  15. Can anyone recommend a CA Civil Survey Review Course for someone that has never performed a survey in his/her life? I am an SE looking to take the survey exam in the near future. Any recommendations and things to avoid etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Can anyone tell me why a structural engineer would need to be qualified in surveying in order to be a practicing structural engineer? I could rant, but it's Friday. And I have a rule about Fridays...
  17. Does anyone know what you are limited on bringing into the the CA Seismic and CA Survey exams? I didn't see anything here... http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/refs.shtml Also are we supposed to bring all of these manuals into the exam? http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/cerefs.shtml Thanks, John
  18. So, I bit the bullet and purchased the 3 survey reference materials on ppi2pass.com. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation of what else to study for for the CA Civil Survey test. 20. Hey everyone! I just passed the 8-hour & now have the CA survey & seismic to go. I signed up for Hiner's class for seismic, but I'm needing some help in choosing study materials for the survey portion! Please help if you can. I took it the first time with just Cuomo's book & didn't pass, so I need some add'l resources. Also, for Seismic, is there anything else you'd recommend I get in addition to Hiner's class? Ive heard some talk about code cheat sheets? Thank you!
