ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (Denver, CO; Lawrence, KS) he Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for leading the development of building energy conservation projects with a focus on Electrical, Lighting, and Lighting Control Systems. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or Electrical Engineering with an interest in building electrical, lighting, lighting control, and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate success in the following skills and abilities: Skills and abilities: Be fully capable of working in design teams to assist in meeting the project goals in a team-focused environment. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas and concepts in both written and oral form. Experience with facility electrical distribution systems is required. Professional Engineering license is required (2019 test takers are welcome to apply). Some travel is required. Exposure to high-performance buildings and energy conservation is preferred. Project experience in Colorado, California, Oregon, or Washington is a plus. Job Responsibilities: Perform on-site facility audits to identify energy, electrical, lighting, and mechanical improvement opportunities. Perform energy modeling and building simulations using energy modeling software packages, i.e., eQUEST. Calculate projected energy savings. Perform project cost estimates. Perform building lighting simulations, lighting design, and equipment selection. Design electrical, lighting, and lighting control systems upgrades, including the production of construction drawings and specifications. Perform engineering analysis of Available Short-Circuit Current, Arc Flash Potential, and Circuit Breaker Coordination in high performance buildings. Write persuasive reports detailing building improvement opportunities and solutions. Present findings clearly and professionally to peers and clients. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with AutoCAD, eQUEST and Microsoft Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) are preferred. Job purpose: Produces structural engineering designs and modifications by identifying project objectives and issues; researching and developing structural engineering techniques and approaches; verifying and validating designs. Duties: * Completes feasibility studies by studying project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements; conducting site investigations; identifying and establishing performance standards; preparing construction documents and submittals. * Organizes structural engineering design project by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources. * Develops structural design plans by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying structural engineering concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria; adapting and modifying structural mechanics options; performing design calculations relating to foundations and structures, loading, structural response, and connection design; preparing drawings and visualizations; collaborating with related engineering design teams; evaluating structural materials and suppliers; identifying and resolving design integration issues; determining and establishing design specifications and safety standards. * Verifies design by establishing functionality, reliability, maintainability, and durability test standards; building and testing simulations and models; performing analytical and numerical quantification procedures and visualizations; analyzing test data; identifying, isolating, and resolving problems. * Verifies and supports construction by performing compliance inspections and tests; resolving construction problems related to structural design; coordinating and conferring with construction and production contractors. * Documents structural design and maintenance by recording design features and maintenance requirements, and warnings; detailing safety requirements. * Complies with codes and regulations by applying and enforcing adherence to regulations and testing requirements; advising management on needed actions. * Maintains engineering design team accomplishments by coordinating actions; obtaining expert input; reviewing open issues and action items; contributing information and structural engineering analysis to team meetings and reports; guiding structural engineering technicians. * Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing structural engineering data and trends. * Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging structural engineering technologies and practices; participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks. * Enhances engineering and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
