  1. I graduated in 2016, and will be eligible (by work experience) to obtain my PE in 2020. In 2018 I lived in North Carolina, so I took and passed the PE exam “early” there. I have since moved to Georgia which is a standard/coupled state. Does anyone know if Georgia will accept my exam once I have completed four years of experience in 2020? Needless to say I’m horrified by the idea of having to take the exam again. This might have been asked a billion times, but thanks for the help.
  2. Hi, I passed my PE in power and submitted my application on June 19th. I saw that my check was cashed out on June 25th. It has been more than 60 days since I sent my application, but I haven't heard back anything from the board. Does anyone know how long does it take to hear back from the board? Thanks in advance
  3. I'm now applying for Civil PE registration in CA (I have all my qualifying experience). One year of my qualifying experience was in MA under a licensed Environmental PE. Obviously Environmental is a subset of Civil, but since there's a specific Environmental PE title in MA, I'm concerned about whether his reference will be valid for my civil app here in CA. From the CA PE application FAQ, for an applicant seeking registration as a civil PE, "all references must be licensed engineers authorized to practice civil engineering." From the Code of Massachusetts Regulations 250 CMR 5.01(3) "Engineering Registrants must restrict engineering practice to areas of competence based upon their education and experience qualifications." The way I read this, if my former boss is competent to practice civil engineering in MA, he's a valid reference for my CA civil PE app. Do I need to have him write a letter in addition to stamping my engagement form stating the above to the CA Board? I'm applying my Master's Degree in Civil Engineering as part of my qualifying experience. CA states that a reference is required for all qualifying experience. Does that mean that my grad school professors registered as PE's can serve as qualifying references for me? Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any help you choose to give me!
  4. So this past spring I took the PE exam in North Carolina because NY rejected my application and I was already too far into studying to give up. Anyway, I ended up passing my exam (yay!) but now I need to apply to NC. I can't find what NC considers as engineering experience. I started my career working for a contractor, but now work for a structural design firm. Is NC not going to count my construction experience? Does anyone know what I should do here? The form ( that they have on their website has two columns for work experience, time in design and time doing other work. But you can now apply using the NCEES website. Just curious if anyone has any advice. Thanks!
  5. I took and passed the Texas PE exam in April 2017. I submitted my application in late June (6/28), and submitted other supporting materials (including reference letters) in early July. All required materials (ethic exam, background check, transcripts, references, SER, etc) are shown as "received" as of 7/14, but the application webpage has stayed at "admin review" ever since. It's stuck at admin review for more than 20 days. Does it usually take so long for admin review? Just curious if anyone on this board has recently submitted the application in Texas? How long does it take for admin review, technical review and to get approval? Thank you
  6. Hello everyone, I am filling out my PE application for April 2017 exam and I am (more than) a little confused. In application instructions (page IV of 19) it states that all work experience (engineering and non-engineer) Full time AND part time experience should be stated in my work experience summary form on page 3. However on top of the page, on page 3, the instructions clearly say to write all the Full time work experience in the work experience summary form... 1) So do I need to write the part time experience as well or not? Some other questions: 2) For teaching as graduate teaching assistant (TA), shall I put an unemployment for the gap between the two semesters? 3) How about when I changed jobs and I did not work for a few days? Do I record those few days as gap in unemployment? 4) For any sheet that is stated " add additional sheets if needed" should I copy the same sheet and type in more information or am I adding an empty letter size sheet with my information on it? I appreciate your time guys!
  7. This is for California PE application. If this his been addressed elsewhere, please help me out. I have 4 jobs of varying responsibility, so I have 4 engagements. The same supervisor existed at 2 of the engagements, so he will be my reference twice. I have 3 different people (supervisors) covering my time. I have a consulting engineer that I worked closely with at my current engagement that I would like to include as well. Am i correct that both reference forms for this time period would have the same engagement number (i.e. 1). For example, this current engagement has is 16 months long so far, but my time with this consulting engineer is 13 months. Do i have two engagement forms, one 16 months, one 13 months overlapping? Thank you in advance
  8. Hello my fellow engineers! I'm looking for help on writing a letter to the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. My application for a Civil PE license was shot down on the grounds that there wasn't enough info to determine the work as civil engineering under their definition. Two lines is hardly enough room to describe everything I did and I was suckered into thinking that maybe they didn't care too much about it, but here I am now. Can you help me buff up the appeal letter? Dear X: I am a recent applicant for licensing as a Professional Civil Engineer sitting for the April 2013 exams. In a letter dated January 31, 2013, I received the Board’s determination that my application would be classified as incomplete. In response, I submit this letter further detailing my engagement period with Company X. Please accept this additional information to supplement the Engagement Record and Reference Form used to determine if my engagement would qualify as Engineering Experience under the Board’s definition. The only project during my engagement period was the Project X: Radiological Remediation and Support which lasted from my date of hire, November 1, 2010, to the deadline of the April 2013 exam application, November 1, 2012. Its purpose was to protect the public health and welfare, and the environment from actual or potential releases of radiological contaminants with the removal of sewer and stormwater drainage piping, materials, and soil in the area that was found to contain contamination. The piping, the trenches resulting from the piping removal, the surrounding soil, and nearby buildings were screened and sampled for their specific physical quality of radiological concern. Additional excavation remediation was performed as necessary. All materials that were determined to have contamination were properly disposed of. Site restoration activities included the installation of a temporary drainage swale to manage overland storm water flow. In addition, trench excavations were backfilled to grade followed by the application of road base material. Below I have organized a table listing my tasks and duties in contribution to the project in detail and a corresponding engineering principle beside each. [Note: I was having too much trouble formatting a table into this post so I attached it just as a Word file instead.] If you have any further questions or need any additional information, please call me at XXX-XXXX or email Sincerely, nlook Appeal letter table.doc
