1. ## Max Power Transfer Question - Updated NCEES Power #531

I am working on problem 531 and I personally do not agree with the NCEES answer. Help! The question is asking for the Var losses in a transmission line during the transfer. I used the equations I found to calculate the active power transmitted, done to simply verify that the system did in fact 5,000 MW from System A to System B, using the equation ONE below. Next I calculated the var losses using equation TWO below. Based on the equation to find vars transmitted from A to B I calculate Yet NCEES says the answer is (D) 10,000 MVARS. So what am I missing? It does not seem like we find the vars transmitted from System A to System B as well as from System B to System A which would double. I say this because the problem states 5,000 MW transmitted from A to B. Any help is greatly appreciated. FYI-> I just found a similar equation to the one I used on the NERC website and I would hope they get it correct.
2. ## NCEES 531 Power

Please help! I have read all of the previous forums on this question. I understand the solution NCEES has but I want to know why the solution I have does not work (see attachment). Its keep me up day and night. I'm taking the Power Exam in Columbia, SC 10/24 so the faster the help the better. I have used several different reference manuals and I am just not getting why MY solution does not work. Thanks in advance! NCEES 531.pdf
