  1. Hi! I'm about to take the FE Exam in a few days, and I was wondering if you can still see your results on the FE Exam if you pass it. I failed it before, and I got a report that told me how I did on each section. If I pass the exam, will I get the same kind of email that notifies me that the results have been released? Or will I get an additional email that congratulates me for passing the FE Exam? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hello , I am electrical engineering graduate from india.I graduated in 2010. I recently moved to US now I am planning to take FE Electrical and Computer test. I wish to take test in April 2017. I am not very sure from where to start preparing. What type of question to expect in the test. Is there a way for me to find Previous year FE exam questions (other than the NCEES practice test or other practice test)? I wish to clear it in a single attempt. Can anyone suggest any strategies, useful resources, review materials? When I searched online lots of review courses are available are they really useful? Where can I find some free resources to prepare for exam? Where can I find the previous year questions/sample questions of FE exam ? Any help on this is really appreciated. Thanks for your time

Personal Experience Passing the FE Exam

I am very happy since I just passed my FE Civil exam today! I will like to share my personal experience passing the FE Exam (in a condensed form) since I did visit this website to read about other candidates who failed or passed the FE exam. I took the exam 3 times and passed on the third try. I took the exam in my 3rd year (2014) and failed because I had not fully prepared. In my mind, I felt it was just an experience to get a feel how the exam was. For the second time (2015), I took the exam in my last year after taking courses such as concrete, steel, structural design, transportation engineering etc. and spent about a month studying and still failed. Finally, I rescheduled immediately after failure and postponed the test date to January (2016). I tried to reschedule the exam a night before the test date thinking I was not ready since I did not study and other new material but could not due to the 48 hour rescheduling period. I am not super smart and would consider myself an average student but these are the techniques I applied for the test. 1. The most important of all is TIME. The exam is a 5 hour 30 minutes exam. I spent about 1 hour 30 minutes for the first 55 questions. In the past I had used about more than 2 hours 30 min for the first section which is the easiest of both sections and found myself short on time with almost 20-30 questions to go for the second section. Your target will be to have more time for the second section of about 55-57 questions. I will suggest about 3 hours or 2 hours 45 minutes. 2. Know how to search and find equations using the provided reference manual also available on NCEES website for free. 3. Know how to use your calculator. 4. Do not dwell on a question for more than 3 minutes. Move on! Guess an answer (pick the best possible answer) and flag for a review if you have time. I mostly stuck to picking the C or D (mostly) C if I could not deduce the right answer. I hope this helps! One Happy EIT.

  12. Hi there, I've been out of school for 20 years now and decided to take the EE FE Exam. My concern beside to refreshing my rusted knowledge is that I hardly have my books and notes. On top of that, some of the topics were not provided to us back then. Such as Properties of Electrical Materials and I don't even know what book to look for online. I've to add that I'm looking for self study materials or easy to understand books for this matter. Thanks
  13. I searched and didn't see a topic like this that was comprehensive- sorry if I missed it. I am 10 years out of undergrad and have been studying from Lindeburg's FE Civil Review Manual. I did not pass the first attempt, and I am back at it again now. I plan to take it again at the end of August. Does anyone have a crash course resource they recommend? I think I would benefit from videos as opposed to reading through more books. Thanks!

  20. Capstone Learning has added the FE Civil CBT online exam review curriculum to is existing catalog of online FE CBT and PE review courses. The curriculum is comprised of three components, each of which include the topics that specifically align with the FE Civil CBT exam, and are delivered and supported by an FE exam instructor who has been helping engineers pass the FE exam for more than 25 years: the FE Civil Instructional review includes more than 35 hours of targeted contextual knowledge, 350 solved exam-based problems and guided solutions, access to the FE expert who will answer your specific questions while you review, Capstone's own RIGOR solution methodology, and the fundamental "need to knows" for each topic. The modular topic structure allows you to study the CBT exam topics in the order you choose, and to view and review any topic for as long and often as you need to, until you pass the exam. the FE Solved Problem set lets you solve 350 exam-based problems on your own, and then compare your solution with the exam expert's guided solution. the FE Civil Sample exam replicates the CBT exam experience. It's built like the actual exam, including the number of problems per topic (as specified by NCEES), and features a countdown timer. At the end of the exam, you'll see your score. You can then review each exam problem's detailed solution, provided by the exam expert. All Capstone Learning products allow you instant access as soon as they are purchased. Because they are Web-based, that access is 24/7 and allows you to prepare on your time. They are also yours to keep for as long as you need them to pass the exam. The FE expert is also on hand for as long as required, and will respond to your questions within 1 - 2 days. 21. I can not express how happy I am. I have no freaking idea how I passed! I thought I did worse than other times!! Oh man I woke up 7:00AM Pacific Time to check my score, the entire week I knew I failed, but some how some way I freaking passed this muthafuca!!! Alright, I wanna to tell everyone do not give up. I was thinking if i don't pass this time, I really don't want to study all those crap that I learned all the way from community college.. But it's worthed! Now I'm just 1 more step away from having the PE in my initials!! Ok these are the books and materials that I purchased: FE Review Manual 2nd ed. - This book really helped me out in the morning session. I would definitely recommend this book and I'd give it 7/10. The problems in this book was for sure harder than the actual exam. Well worth the price. For the ethics part, make sure to read the FE reference manual that is given by the NCEES http://www.amazon.com/Review-Manual-Preparation-Fundamentals-Engineering/dp/1591263336 Civil Discipline-Specific Review for the FE/EIT Exam http://www.amazon.com/Civil-Discipline-Specific-Review-EIT-Exam/dp/1591261775/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1415201663&sr=1-1&keywords=civil+discipline-specific+review+for+the+fe+eit+exam - I got this book for a whooping price of $75 while a go. I remember when I got it in the mail, I felt cheated because it's only a hair thin and costs $75. I saw a few problems that were in this book on the actual exam. FE Civil Online Practice Exam 1 This is a must buy!!! Only $50+tax, but I saw many very similar problems in this practice exam on the actual exam. FE Reference Handbook, 9.2 edition get the latest reference if you can. It's a bit easier to get used to when you sit for the test FE Civil Quiz Bank http://ppi2pass.com/fe-civil-quiz-bank-feceqb.html Last but not least, I felt the $50 price tag for a 7 day usage was well worth it. I was very unsure about my structural design, environmental, geotechnical, transportation and Hydrology/Hydraulics skills. I mean I took the classes, did my hw and I know the stuff, but I wasn't that confident. This quiz gave me a HUGE boost of self-esteem for the exam. My strategy was to only take questions from one section at a time, give my best shot and compare my answers with their answers. I must say there were a few errors in those problems, but they weren't many. My strategy for the actual exam: . I've read a few posts on this site that people said they usually get 80%-85% on each exam or they finished the exam 40 mins earlier. I'm not one of those. If I recall correctly, I got 51 problems for the first part and 59 for the second part. My goal was to finish the first part in less than 2 hours.... I finished the first part in about 110 mins, a little more than 2 min per problem. The second part I knew I could afford to spend a little more time on each problem than I did on the first part which was a good thing. There are some give away problems in here.. Some are just plain dum.. You don't need to be an engineer to answer them. sometimes it's good to take a step back and just look at the whole problem as a whole..
