    VIRGINIA - RESULTS

Congratulations! BTW, how would I know that I passed it if I am already a PE and taking another exam, e.g. SE-I ? I know very well that I did not do that well in this attempt, but I know I had answered 50% of the 80 questions with confidence (confidence level 99%), and the rest 50% ?????? almost without a appreciable confidence. I am certainly waiting for the diagnostic letter, and I am ready not to see P-A-S-S this time. I used to think that my PE certification will raise my salary, and status, but it hardly changed. I am not optimistic that I will have any advantage even if I pass the SE-I in VA unless I am ready to transfer to IL or other states where SE-I is separately recognized. Good thing is that there is a discussion going on about recognizing the SE as a separate category in the remaining 38 states. I hope to pass SE by that time, so I am not worried right now whether I pass or fail. I am going swallow these codes before I bet another try. Period. Have fun. GeoTech.PE

I liked the landscape of the Lynchburg area. When I went there for the first time, I crossed the Blueridge Mountain, and later found an easy access via Roanoke. As I reached there for the first time, I prayed for not going back there in night / early morning hours. But, the route via Roanoke is really pleasant, safe, and simple. I relied too much on Google Earth. The trouble that I had, particulary, second time was to carry the tons of books to the exam room (almost half a kilometer and lift the items to 4-5 storey equivalent ups and downs). In that sense, I liked the Exam Center in Columbus, OH. Parking lot was just outside the building.

Recent ASCE's monthly newsletter mentioned that the SE is currently recognized / designated as a separate category only in 12 states, and a discussion is underway to extend it to all states. IF it is true, many engineers who passed the PE Exam might get another chance to visit Lynchburg, not by choice but as a requirement. I also wish that the GE category / designation be introduced in all the remaining states. I know its not going to happen in Next Decade or so. Eventually, it has to happen. The only question that is not answered yet is "when?"

    >>Lynchburg Area I took the exam in Lynchburg PE Exam Center. I am expecting to visit this exam center a couple of more times. The result should be out within 2 weeks after AZ gets. If I remember it correctly, then we just wait for a few more days. Hope brings us aspirations. I am hoping for a miracle. Miracle never favored me, and if it favors this time then it will be (Miracle)^2. If so, I will be having a hatrick "PASS". I am really not sure this time whether I should open the envelope by myself, or ask a psychologist friend to open it for me, so that he can tell the truth (either way) in convincing and acceptable form.

Congrats! Last April Exam: on April 11,2008 AZ got the result first: Between June 05-09, 2008 October Exam: Oct 24, 2008 Result is out: Today, Dec 17, 2008 It means first result comes out on 8th week (54th Day). Pretty consistent. So, VA result should be within two weeks from today. For those who passed the exam for the first time, the appearance of their name is proof of their success in the exam. But, how will you know that you passed the exam, e.g. SEI, if your name is already on the DPOR's database as a PE. Any help!!!!

    VIRGINIA - RESULTS

Last summer, I was having a lot of fun in this forum while trying to guess what would be my luck in April 2008 PE Exam result. I went to the same exam center as before, the main difference was on the size of the exam rooms, and number of examinees. Some of the faces were the same, and we exchanged smiles and "hello!". Why did the number of examinees increase? Anyway, I am back to EB for the information on the exam results. Last summer, I was addicted to this website until that luck defining moment. The first news on the Exam result came right here at early 6 am that changed the life of many fellow engineers. This time, I am not that optimistic that I will make it. I know my performance level this time is slightly below the borderline (the size of the variance will be my luck). No matter what is my performance in the exam, I am still interested in the result and that is why I am back to EB. It is chasing me, just like So what? Lets post our feeling, expectations, and any clue but no HOAX, please :p10940623: Last time, the result (VA DPOR) was out between 70-80 days. If I remember correctly, AZ was the first to get the result. VA was not in that bad shape as compared to CA. Lets start. It is 54th day after the exam was over. So, 16-25 more days. I wish you all the best. :smileyballs:

Hello! Ijust passed the PE Exam, and I want to go for next level: PE Structural. I have a few questions on this regard: Is there any waiting time/period or experience required after you get the PE Civil certification, before I take the PE Structural I or II exams? If so, how many years? Please enlighten me. Thanks.

What do you understand by the statement "as a result of achieving a passing score of 85 on the professional engineer examination ..... " on the letter sent to you. I believe this is the passing score, and this is not the actual score that an examinee secured in the exam. Most importantly, I want to know: "Does this 85 mean 85% of the answers were correct?" I don't think so. Is there anyway to guess the number of correct answers you might have answered correctly in order to secure such passing score. Thanks.

04020442** gets 81 (earlier night the number was 72: that means 9 additions) 04020443** gets 66 (earlier night the number was 36: that means 30 additions) 04020444** gets 42 (earlier night the number was 9: that means 33 additions) 04020445** gets 70 04020446** gets 74 My expectation was that the search result should have gone up to 75-85 range. It is too low. Is the update completed, or it is still in progress. I was wondering whether the pass rate this year is too low, lower than the national average in previous years. We remain finger crossed.

Finally, I made it. Thanks to EngineerBoards.com for letting me know the result was out. This morning, I was not sure whether I should check this website first or the DPOR VA website. I checked the EB.com, and the "Virginia Results" Thread was on top of the list, and clicked on it. Then, I rushed to DPOR VA to find my name. Scrolled down. Wow! I made it. It happened in just first time. My message to those who could not make it on first time is: Focus on Syllabus. I passed without any Guidebook, without any coaching classes, without any special PE EXam specific books or tutoring services. You can do it. I downloaded the reports and research papers from Internet whenever I was not sure about the contents in the syllabus, and the reference books could not address the issue properly to the level of my satisfaction. Thanks to DPOR VA for finally making the wait worth. What next?

For me tomorrow is like someday next year. The people in EES/PCShq told us that they maild the Disc to DPOR VA on Last Wed, and today it is Monday, almost a week away. For last two and half months, if I have done anything that efficiently then that must be waiting for the result. I was waiting just not 9-5, but 24h/7d for 10Weeks. I am really tired. I want a break. Hopefully, the break starts by the end of this week. :p10940623:
