  1. The comity review time for NYS is the same as that for NY.
  2. Thanks, but I'm still lost. Not sure why she called me kf, not sure what personal e-mail address we are talking about.
  3. I was just trying to give CairnNY a hard time for the unnecessary "S" at the end of his "NY".
  4. leg, I have no idea what you are talking about. ??
  5. No need to post the same thing in three threads. Please use: http://engineerboards.com/forum/11-yard-sale/

  7. I live in California State. I had no issues with CAS.
  8. NaP. If you do consider a CA-Seismic class, consider EET. As for the ASCE 7 and CBC. Yes, I think it is fair to say the 2016 CBC (or 2015 IBC) will be used on the Fall 2018 exam but I don't know that you can say for certain the exam will switch from ASCE 7-10 to 7-16. In fact, I would suggest you assume it will still be 7-10 for Fall 2018. Especially since the 2016 CBC references the 7-10. I don't know of a way to find the ASCE 7 (legally) in free PDF but I am sure it exists. The CBC is legally free, as you know. For the CBC, you'll only need Volume 2 of 2. You'll want a good workbook and some good practice problems. Again, I'd recommend EET's material. Good luck!
  9. Hmmm.... where have I seen this before? Ummm..... one thread down?
  10. I remember it well. My best friend got a 56 on the Transpo exam that cycle. But Apothe said "[the cut score is] a number definitely above 56/80" That is not true.
  11. All I know is when I passed, I most likely passed with the lowest possible passing score. You know the old Q&A expression: "What do you call a student who got all Cs in med school? Doctor." Well, what do you call an examinee who just barely passed the P&P Exam? Profession Engineer. That's all that matters, right?
  12. It is possible knight. I remember the cut score from my exam. But the way the OP started this thread is not the way to determine any one cut score. If broken out by PE discipline, and if (and only if) enough examinees report their failing score, then it can be logically concluded that the highest failing score plus one was the lowest passing score (for that particular discipline).
  13. Here we go with the bad information. Yes it varies from PE discipline to discipline but it also changes form administration to administration. So looking at past administrations has no worth. And no it is not "a number definitely above 56/86". 56 could be a very reasonable passing score.
  14. The best way to do that is to start a thread and say "Trying to figure out the cut score". That will guarantee you lots of serious, accurate, and reliable responses.
  15. Received this e-mail from the Board at 9:55am this morning. It does say that the state exams are not available yet (but I suspect we're close). Results from the October 2017 NCEES engineering examinations will be released on December 4, 2017. Candidates should check their email for the message from NCEES. The results from the ASBOG geology and the California state-specific engineering, surveying, geology, and geophysics examinations are not yet available. The California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists will update this mailing list and its website at http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov when they are released.

  17. Lucas, I have never said this on a forum - particularly to another dude, but - I love you man.
  18. I love it! "And the fact that you can't spell simple words correctly completely discredits anything else you've ever said in your career". LOL!
  19. I am probably getting a little too off topic but..... I took my boys to Amboy (mentioned in kf's articles) this past spring. The 'Amboy Crater' there is a dormant volcano that is relatively young - last eruption was about 10,000 years ago. There is one side of the volcano that had a breach during the eruption so it is easiest to enter on that side. It is pretty cool walking up and into a volcano. We took home some lava rock. There are also salt lakes nearby. They are dried/evaporated lakes where nothing is left but about 4" of pure white salt. Fun to walk on. I touched the tip of my tongue against a piece of it and HOLY SALTY! Lastly, we went to the Kelso Dunes (also in the Mojave Desert) which are big giant sand dunes that constantly change in shape/height/location due to wind. Fun to climb and play in. We brought snow sleds which only worked so-so in the sand but we still had a blast. After being closed for renovations for like 8 frickin years, the Mitchell Caverns (Mohave Desert) finally reopened. So, I plan to take the whole family in January. :o)
