  2. kduff70, I like your spirit...Don't give up...You can do it...Yeah, I would say focus more on the principles than anything else...That really helped me the second time...I read through Wildi as much as I could to understand all the basics and then went back to spin up, graffeo, CI, NCEES etc. Wildi looks scary/huge at the beginning - but trust me, once you finish a chapter or two, u will start liking it and feel comfortable with lot of core concepts...at least i really fell in love with book once i finished chapter 7-10 Gud luck! I am sure u can do it October...Stay focused and determined...Quality studying matters the most than the actual number of hours...so take a break for little bit and then just GO for it...

    V LG vs V NG

    If either of these values are zero, what does that mean?

When do you use (2*Vpeak)/3.14 and when do you use just (Vpeak/3.14) This is just so confusing esp. when going thru' these problems in CI tests....I am very nervous about the power electronics type problems in the exam does anyone have set of formulas on this? (average, rms values etc on power electronics, batteries) - Please share.Thanks a lot!
  9. If the source is a 1 phase center tap line (V LN= 110V and V L-L = 220V), which voltage would you use to calculate voltage at receiving end?

  11. Hi All, This phase shift seems to be killing me. Based on Wildi, if wye connected, V L-N = (V L-L/sqrt 3) at angle -30 degree if delta connected I phase = (I line/sqrt 3) at angle -30 degree But in the attached problems, eg. E-25, at the end, Ia seems to be calculated at -30 degree. I think Ia must be 173 at angle 10 degrees (+30-20)? same follows in problem E-26 Ia must be 300 at -20 degrees? Thanks for your help/time!   13. So the correct formula is R cos(theta)+ X sin (theta) regardless of lagging or leading pf, correct?
  14. Why does one of the questions in test 4 in CI say DC machines do not have hysteresis losses? I thought the correct answer would be stray losses?
