Was checking the calendar and wondered if we could add National Engineer's Week...since we are engineers!
It's Feb 18-24.
Does anyone's company plan any special event for Engineer's Week? Any ideas on what we on the board can do? ie games, jokes, tests/quizzes ...
Just thought it might be fun...

VT ASCE has events at UVM and Vermont Tech if I'm not mistaken.
We've got a project going on at Vermont Tech and I've presented in front of their civil dept. before, I'd love to go back there for e-week.
Good catch Twee. Thanks for bringing this up.

We had an engineer here on the island who was really active with Mathcounts and such, and he would organize a big "popsicle stick bridge" building competition every year for all the schools during Engineering week. Last year, I got invited as kind of an afterthought to represent environmental engineering. I showed up with a bunch of photo displays our office puts together for Earth Week, and hardly anyone looked at them - too much fun with the bridge contest. And it was pretty cool - he had a video camera connected to a projector, so everyone in the crowd (probably 300 people) could watch. A few of the bridges were damn near indestructable (the kids did their internet research).
I suggested representing the ME field a little better, and also having a mousetrap-powered car contest for the kids - there are kits you can buy for schools that have bags of parts & materials to help get them started. But then he got a new job and is on his way out, so I haven't heard anything this year.

I plan on just plain not showing up to work on Monday. I call it Engineer's Week Observed!
I hope Rockwood does a good set of engineer's week comics this year
