I'm wondering how "in-depth" any questions on lateral capacity/deflection might be. Should I spend some time reviewing p-y curves, Brom's method, etc? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

While I can't recall seeing any on the exam (multi-time test taker here), I am studying it this time because there is a problem in the NCEES practice exam on lateral capacity, #535. I'm actually struggling. Clearly I'm not good with piles. Any help from anyone would be most appreciated.

lateral pile capacity is one of the only geo topics I didn't study. If it shows up on the exam, I'll save it for last and hope I can figure it out in time. If not, I'll guess.
