Hello Everyone,...

i bet you are familiar with that thing called Toe stuffing,.. this would normally be found on footwear product to fill the toe box to maintain shape of the shoe...

i'm currently working for a footwear manufacturing company,... this process is high labor intensive which required at least 4 operators of 200 pairs/hour.

the steps are,

1. an A4 sized paper is crushed by hand into a ball shape

2. put the ball shaped paper in to a toe shaped cavity of hinged mold template

3. Close the hinged mold tempalte

4. pick up the shaped crushed paper,

5. wrap it with anothe A4 sized paper like a gift wrap.

anyone has any idea if can automate this process,.. or advise commercially available machine (with modification or not)...

thanks in advance.

iman,

You might want to look into changing from wadded paper to a cardboard toe/foot form. That way, you could use a pulp mold which could absolutely be automated. I'm not sure you could automate something as delicate as crumpling a sheet of paper.

hmmm,.. actually, our buyer, the swoosh fellows :-( decided to change from molded foot form to this wadded paper..

for a cheaper material reason, however the labor cost increased, still it reduce the total cost,,..

thanks anyway for your response,.. :)
