[SIZE=10pt]As a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Design), you will be responsible for the technical leadership of a small team of Engineers who are responsible for the design, development and support of electro-mechanical systems and sub systems to meet business needs for the Spearfish Torpedo upgrade.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Your main responsibilities as a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Design):[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Acting on behalf of the Mechanical Design Leader to co-ordinate the group activities for Torpedo Upgrade programmes[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Acting on behalf of the HardwareControl Account Manager as a member of the hardware development leadership team, maintaining the development schedule of activities, allocating work within the team, and monitoring progress[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Providing input to the monthly status reports regarding technical status and issues, cost and schedule performance and resulting trend forecasts, ensuring the achievement of key deliverables and milestones from the development activities[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Conducting a wide range of activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services, involving the full Engineering Lifecycle, to meet defined project or business requirements[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Ensuring that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Drafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task in order to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Preparing and submitting technical proposals and tenders as directed by a bid manager in order to provide costed proposals for future work[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Liaising with MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors and customers as required to satisfy the needs of project or the business[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]If appropriate, supervising undergraduates or young persons assigned for training to assist in the development of their knowledge and skills[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Your skills and qualifications as a [/SIZE][SIZE=10pt]Senior Mechanical Engineer (Design):[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=10pt]Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or experience to offset[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Demonstrates the competencies required of Chartered and/or Incorporated Engineer described within the EC UK Standard for Professional Engineering[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Acknowledged practitioner in the broad discipline of Mechanical Engineering and its integration with others[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Working knowledge of some Lifecycle phases and the ability to act as an internal Design and Phase Review Assessor[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Competent with Microsoft Office applications, and SAP data management tool is desirable[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Proficient ability in use of ProEngineer 3D CAD would be advantageous[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]This is a full time role and will be based in Broad Oak.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]The job grade for this role is 17 with a competitive salary offering plus benefits.[/SIZE]
