I'm currently working through problems in the PPI Enviro Eng Solved Problems 2nd ed. Can anyone explain to me how they come up with the relative ratings for the 4 sites in the solution on page 118 (problem 6.1)? I feel this this something very simple I'm overlooking. Any help will be appreciated.

I think the "relative rating" is simply a normalized score, normalized to the lowest (best) score.
So in other words, the normalized score for option C (best) is 125/125 = 1.00, and D is 161/125 = 1.29, and so on.
That said, it seems pointless to go through this step, when you can simply compare the total weighted scores and determine the best site.
