To create a record, it says you need 5 PE references. While this might be easy for Civil or Electrical disciplines, other less "popular" PE disciplines will have a hard time with the 5 PE references. I guess I am not asking for a solution, but anyone have similar thoughts, in the same situation?

I don't think it's necessarily easy for any discipline. It's really more dependent on what industry you work in. For consulting, I would say that's probably the best chance one might have at getting multiple PE references. Because the other challenge is not only securing the reference, but also a reference that has knowledge of the work you perform. While it can be difficult to get all 5 references, at the same time this also ensures you are covered when applying to jurisdictions that actually require the full 5. Others typically only require 3. A record is quite valuable in my opinion if you plan to get licenses in multiple states. The process is very streamlined.

Yes - I understand why it is what it is. The process was of course created by state board members.

States like CA however only require PE references for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. The other disciplines can use non licensed Engineer references (at least when applying for comity).

No right answer or easy solution. But some disciplines may have a hard time getting a record because of this requirement.
