Or know when they typically notify applicants if they're approved to take the exam? I emailed the Board asking, but all they told me was that the applications are forwarded from PCS to them after the application deadline, July 1st, and that it can take several weeks to receive written notification on if your approved or if your application is deficient in some manner. Unfortunately, I don't have the greatest USPS service at my apartment, so I'm slightly worried that I might not receive their letter in time to correct anything before the NCEES registration deadline for the Oct. 2015 exam. If I'm approved, does anyone know if the PCS applicant home website will check off the "Board Approved To Test" icon without my involvement?

And has anyone gotten a letter from the PA board regarding their application yet?

Or know when they typically notify applicants if they're approved to take the exam? (I don't think until after the deadline passes, I think they do application reviews in rounds with a preliminary review then a final review) I emailed the Board asking, but all they told me was that the applications are forwarded from PCS to them after the application deadline, July 1st, and that it can take several weeks to receive written notification on if your approved or if your application is deficient in some manner. (As long as you entered a valid email on your application, I don't think you have to worry about the mail since based on my experience the PA state board emails the correspondence in addition to mailing it. Except for the certificate if you do pass...then you will have to worry :) )

If I'm approved, does anyone know if the PCS applicant home website will check off the "Board Approved To Test" icon without my involvement? I believe they did

I applied for the exam in April 2015, so no direct answer to you question, but my experience may shed some light on your situation.

The deadline for April Exam in PA is December 1 and the NCEES deadline in mid-February

- I submitted my application to PCS in October and I believe all my references submitted their forms in October as well.

- A week or so after I mailed in my application, I received an email from PCS stating they received my application and were waiting for reference forms for three references.

-In mid-November emailed PCS (knowing all my references had mailed in their forms) for a status update and they sent me back an email stating that they had received all reference forms and that they were submitting my application to the state board.

-December 2 I received an email from the state board that had a copy of a letter they were mailing me (the letter identified that they did a preliminary review of my application and that I needed to send in a resume for my supervisor since he had let his PE license expire [being an ME we fall under an industry exemption])

- I mailed a copy of his resume and also sent a copy via email to the state board in before Christmas.

- I got an email from the state board just before New Years that they had received my submission and would add it to my file.

- On Jan. 28th I received another email from the state board that had a copy of a letter they were mailing me identifying I was approved to take the exam.

Thank you, that helps a lot. I asked the board if notification would come by email, but they only responded saying I would receive written notification of their decision. Good to know I don't have to worry about USPS!

I don't think you pay the exam fee until you're board approved so PCS should let you know on the site or by email that you need to pay. Can't say I remember getting anything in the mail from the PA board though.

I sent my application on June 1st and I know it's still pending with the Board. No idea when either. :/

Well after my intial review for application completeness, turns out one of my references did not answer the "How long have you known the applicant?" question and now I have to wait for a second initial review. I hope they can do the initial and final approval in 31 days...
