HI All,

I'm planning to take PE exam in April 2013 in California. Is it mandatory to appear all 3 exams (PE-Civil, Seismic and Surveying) in the same attempt. Can i give the 8 hours exam this April 2013 and take Seismic and Surveying exam in October 2013.I don't think i have enough time to prepare for all three since I just had a baby. Any ideas?

Saruna, I'm not in California but I'm sure by the posts I've seen that you can pass them independently...there are a lot of great resources on this site and I'm sure someone that has a definite answer. In fact, there are actual California board members on the site that are extremely helpful. Best of luck in 2013!

You can just register for the 8 hrs in April..and only appear for that ..in Oct you can take seismic and surveying or just one of them its up to you..

Best of luck.. I think deadline had passed for 1st time takers

You can register for each test separately. The fee for each test is separate. But you missed the deadline for first-time test takers so you'll have to start the gamut in October 2013. See http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/exam_schedule.shtml for the filing deadlines. It couldn't hurt to gather your references now.

Good luck. I took all three exams a few weeks after having my second baby, it wasn't easy to study in those conditions but you do what you can. Don't be afraid to ask family to pitch in so you can study.

Thanks for all the information. I am refiling for the exam so the deadline for January 22nd 2013,.
