I'm looking at the price tag for buying all these AASHTO references and its a pretty penny. I can wrangle a few copies of old references but I'm wondering if that would be in vain. I know I have a copy of the AASHTO pavement design book (without the 1998 supplement) and the second to last edition of the Asphalt Institute handbook. Any thoughts on how useful these would be? I know some PEs have told me that they didn't have either of them on the test and were fine.

Have to decide if that price is worth what I anticipate to be 1-2 PM questions. Green Book, Roadside Dsgn Guide and HCM are the must haves.

Maybe my response here will help you?

ptatohed, always very helpful, thank you. Since I have the two pavement books, I'll bring them along anyway. But the pedestrian facilities book, and highway safety manual--have you changed your opinion on those? Or has there been any word from anyone on how useful it may be?

Side note: How did you like Goswami's transpo stuff over Lindeburg's transpo stuff?

You are welcome MM.

Regarding the Ped Facilities book, see if this helps any: http://engineerboards.com/index.php?showtopic=23032

And maybe this will help a little regarding the HSM:

Oregon

FWHA

CMF Clearing house

Regarding Lindeburg vs Goswami, I found them both to have their pros. Try to use both if you can.

Good luck.
