Was curious if a lot of you use ACI 314 Design Aids for the exam? I've been trying to find a version to have just wondering if its worth it or not.

Any input would be great. Thanks again.

no i have aci 318-11 the design codes... aci 314r-11 is a design aid i believe .... below is the link for what i was talking about... i don't have the document though but i've heard it mentioned so wasn't sure how many people out there used it or if it was worth it to get.

I assume its probably easy enough just to have a text book handy for some of the charts just wanted to hear some opinions of this document and see what it contained.

I didn't use ACI 314 but I did have certain sections of the PCA notes with me. Mostly the ones that dealt with the seismic provisions such as special and intermediate shear walls. Other than that all I had was ACI 318 and the examples that I worked myself beforehand in case I had a brain fart needed a quick reference back.

I have heard of people using 314 and it being useful. Had I failed again I probably would have picked it up. That's the extent of what I know.

Never used it but only learned about it after I passed. I would probably consider using it if I needed to retake the exam.

I'm kind of in limbo on whether to get it or not..... I really want to see a preview of it just to know what all is in it and covered before i invest in it... going to see if i can find any more posts or reviews on how useful it is. I appreciate all the comments keep them coming any input helps.

If you look google "scribd ACI 314" you should be able to see a preview of it

If you don't have a copy of the PCA Notes on ACI 318, put your money towards that instead. It's an invaluable concrete resource for the exam that provides examples for nearly all portions of the 318 code.

^^^ I agree. PCA Notes is the best resource. You can order the PDF from concrete.org for free!

anyone have a link to the free download of the pca notes? I'm having trouble finding it.

Not to hijack, but OP question is similar to how I've wondered if users of SP-17(11) have found the included design aids useful. There doesn't seem to be many reviews or comments on it.

Just wanted to comment back on this.... I got the PCA notes and have been utilizing them. They have have been great! I really appreciate the suggestions to get them.

Additionally, for steel ACI design examples have been great also just to refresh and fine tune.

Thank you again for the info and help. It is greatly appreciated from this young engineer since I don't work with all subjects regularly.
