Sandvik Mining is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry. Our offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling. Rock Tools R&D is responsible for the development of all tools in the Rock Tools Sub-Product Area within Sandvik Mining and also business area Sandvik Construction. Operations are carried out at several locations worldwide in co-operation with other R&D units within Sandvik.

Key performance areas
As Head of R&D Rock Tools, you are responsible for setting the strategic direction, delivering excellent results and continually developing sub-Product Area Rock Tools products and its people. Adopting a holistic approach, you ensure that research and product development supports both the short- and long term needs of the business. New products need to exceed customer demands and expectations, at the same time reaching our safety targets. You also have overall responsibility for supporting ongoing manufacturing and supply chain improvement/efficiency programs, through to end customer delivery and follow-up of field test results. You identify gaps within the total process, act on priorities and work in accordance with quality, environmental and energy control systems. Networking with both internal and external stakeholders is a crucial part of this position.
International travel required, approximately 20-30%.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master of Science degree, with minimum ten years’ experience within a relevant industry. You have worked in a senior management position within a matrix organization and have proven ability in the development of leadership and stakeholder management. You also have an R&D and product development background, and materials engineering experience would be an advantage. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
