Pay Grade: 22
Pay Range: $57,008.78
Deadline: Applications Accepted thru 09/04/2014

Is the pay range a starting salary? Seems a bit low for a PE.
Typical for starting pay for a government job. I have seen the state of Florida job postings for PE's requiring 5 to 10 years experience starting at $36K a year.

I work for a municipality and they pay much higher than $56k/yr. That's an insult IMO. New grads start out at $60k/yr where I work with no experience and obviously without a PE.

I wouldn't bother wasting my time interviewing for a job that only offered $36k/yr. I made that back when I was a treatment plant operator.

Some of the city and county jobs here in Denver are not offering much more than 56,000 a year for a project engineer type position either

Ok. Maybe I was a little off on my statement on the State of Florida starting PE's off at $36K. This is a job post looking for a person with an engineering degree and three years experience starting off at $36k.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in civil, construction, electrical, mechanical or architectural engineering or architecture and three (3) years of experience in the field of building construction
  • A minimum of 12 months experience conducting Installation Status Report Infrastructure inspections.
  • A minimum of 12 months experience surveying and conducting GIS analysis, directly related to the execution of construction activities.
Annual Salary: $36,467.60

still too low. we are not living in the early 90's any more.

Typically the pay sucks but the benefits are good in government jobs. Unfortunately, the benefits are continually being scaled back to match the private industry. But the pay is not being adjusted.

I don't know, been on both sides for equal amounts of time and the benefits are not that great for public anymore. most city / county have more of a 401K style plan and insurance isnot that much better than the private world....

Im looking for a job that pays around $50-$60K when I retire in 10 years, can be a govt job in either Florida Keys (north), Breckenridge, etc cant decide on living under sea level or above...

This is a Senior Engineer position at an Engineering Technician or maybe at best an Assistant Engineer pay. I am an Associate Engineer and make notably more than this.

Eng Tech --> Assist Eng --> Assoc Eng --> Senior Eng
