OREGON.
Does anyone know when we will get the results?
I looked the past several years under FAQs and it seems consistent that we will get the results middle of next week. This is based on how the other states are getting their results compared to when we usually get ours. I asked twice and was told two things:

"Hopefully by Christmas" by a Secretary with a funny look on her face on December 1st when I was applying to take PE exam giving application materials in person without knowing if I passed FE exam...

"Early to Mid January" by a staff person who should know when she called me about an issue in early/mid December unrelated to the tests....

It seems like Oregon, NY, Maryland and Virginia will all be the middle of next week based on the past few years. So, we all just have a few more days!

I took the Oregon PE last year and the letter was in my mailbox on Jan 5, a Saturday. The letter was dated Dec 31.

However I took the LSIT in Oregon a couple years before that and it arrived on Jan 18 with a letter dated Jan 11.

WOW! Week 11 and nothing yet? Maybe Kulongoski is trying to find a way to tax us in order to get our results.

If you don't know about it already, you can also search for your status on the OSBEELS website (www.osbeels.org --> "Find a Licensee" at the top). My coworker's info was online a day before she received the letter for the April exam but I don't recall if I tried looking online before I received my letter.

Thanks klk_pdx,

I tried to check my status on that site, but it was not updated yet.

Compared to last year, notification seems to be delayed. Still Waiting

...~

I talked to someone at OSBEELS on Thursday the 8th.

They said they're probably sending out letters next week. And the website won't be updated for a couple weeks after that.

I also called the board and talked to an "Administrative Specialist ". He told me they had results but the computers are in the midst of being transferred to a new system which is the reason for the delay. He told me the exam results table on the web site under the What's New tab which say the results have been received and sent to the examinees is wrong (no kidding??). He said that he expects that the results letters to be sent out in approximately a week and a half.

...and these are the people in charge of making sure that Engineers are qualified to perform their work. Spectacular.

Yeah, in the several years that I've been looking at their website, I've never seen anything change on the "What's New" Page.

Several people I know have had problems with their exam applications due to issues with OSBEELS staff. The fact that they STILL have the wrong address and incorrect exam fees listed on their applications is unexcusable. (they moved offices in 2007)

Sorry you all have to wait longer than usual. Good luck everyone.

I just love how we are expected to just grin and bear it, when they are screwing up, yet we basically have to read their mind during the application process. If you mistake on one item throughout the application phase, they treat you like an idiot that can't follow their direction, and most likely will reject your application.

I went to hand-deliver my PE exam application to the wrong address because they can't update their website with correct information.

Also, they also questioned whether my required experience qualified as "engineering experience"...while they are in the middle of a big issue statewide where they don't want non-engineers performing engineering work. If I'm applying to take the PE exam, how can I legally have "engineering experience" without being a professional engineer? I had to write a letter and re-apply, after which they let me take the exam.

Does anyone know why the hell OSBEELS demands that applications for the PE exam be submitted 6 weeks earlier than in the past?

Guys,

It reads like a lot of complaining...

I've personally had great experience with OSBEELS - never a problem. Sure, they've got rules to follow, just like everyone else.

Waiting_wes: If you make a mistake on the application, it's your fault - not theirs. I'd agree they should be reasonable in fixing the mistake, but you can't be too upset for not following the directions.

Yahred: Regarding the "engineering experience", surely you're familiar with the EIT concept. Of course you can have engineering experience without being a PE.

Bottom line: My only complaint with OSBEELS is they still haven't figured out how to process application renewals on the website. It's been "in the works" for a while!

To be perfectly honest, I didn't make a mistake on my application, because I hand-delivered my application and fees associated with it. If I hadn't hand-delivered the application, my application approval would have either been delayed or rejected because the application documentation you receive off their website contains incorrect information; i.e. Application fee, mailing address.

The individual at the front desk was kind enough to inform me of these errors prior to submittal of my application.

I have no issue with following directions, as long as the directions given to me are the correct ones.

That's certainly a legitimate complaint. What did OSBEELS tell you when you explained the incorrect website information?

I'm familiar with the EIT concept, but it seems that the processor of my application was not. I submitted my work history including a reference from my supervising engineer, and they said I didn't provide evidence that my work met the criteria of the ORS definition of engineering work. I then had to get a specific letter from my supervising engineer quoting the ORS engineering work section, after which they approved my exam registration. The letter contained the same information as the reference form...nothing had changed.

The test prep, application paperwork, and exam itself take plenty of our time, there's no reason for them to make things more time consuming unnecessarily. It really isn't much worse than most government processes, but I thought this was an arena where others would have similar experiences, so I thought I'd share.

OK... so when you wrote "If I'm applying to take the PE exam, how can I legally have "engineering experience" without being a professional engineer?" that was a rhetorical question that you already knew the answer to?

It sounds like they didn't like the original reference (perhaps it wasn't written clearly to make it obvious it met the requirements for engineering work), your reference sent a specific letter saying he believed you *did* meet the requirements for engineering work), and the evaluator decided he'd go with the reference who was obviously very clear he felt your experience should count. Instead of complaining, you could have just said "thank you".

Well, maybe others have had experiences similar to yours. I'm sure you'd agree we all hope not. I didn't. I think OSBEELS does a decent job. Maybe I'm wrong.

Actually at first nothing. I left the building, and as I sat in my pickup, I had a strange 'hunch' that I had forgotten something. When I went back in, the individual at the front desk informed my that my check was not enough for the application fee. I was somewhat embarrassed and apologized, to which I was informed that they had just changed the fee amount, and hadn't updated their application form.

Also, if it wasn't for a friend who had just taken the exam, I would have never known where their office was at. They changed their address, understandable since they moved. Yet the application you get off of their website still contains their old address.

Forgive me for the complaining, but this is Week 12 since the exam, and it sounds as if it could be longer. NCEES announces a waiting period generally between 10-12 weeks, and frankly I've been anticipating results since week 5 (kidding, but I was and still am quite anxious).
