Any ideas? I took FE 4 times now, I failed my diagnostics says AM=44% PM=55%...I took Civil Discipline, after this 4th attempt I consider myself dumb! I will try again.

most people don't find this board until they are studying for the PE. I don't think we had a huge number of people taking the FE this time around.

A dumb person would probably score 25% AM, 25% PM or less. You are very close to passing a test most people in the world would just stare at blankly, so you certainly aren't dumb.

Yeah, what he said.

A trick to the FE exam is learning what to plug into the formulas in your equation book. There may be some problems that you know how to solve, but may take hours. Just guess on those problems, and perferably an educated guess in the right units will improve your guess.

Just some basic testing skills may improve your score enough to pass.

we dont have that many fe'ers I think? if were missing some please let us know!

But if I had to chose between taking the FE or the PE again, i would choose the PE every time, that FE was brutal as hell for me

Agreed.

Although I had thought the FE was easy when I took it (Fall semester of Senior year), I know I would have to study my ass off to stand a chance at passing the FE again.

STEEL MAN,

Don't give up. At least you took a diagnostics test. I didn't. I simply tried the FE Sample Exam and got only 5 questions right. Then I knew I had to do some preparation.

The members here are right (though I discovered this board while awaiting the results on my FE Exam) ----> the layout of the actual exam follows the format of the NCEES FE Sample Exam. Use this to your benefit. In my case, I looked at all of the questions before I actually started on the exam. To be honest, the 1st question was so easy that I left it blank because I thought it must be a trick question. I recall I started on the 9th question because it required me to use my calculator and perform pencil calculations/drawing. For me, this was a method to get me into the test-taking mode. Once done on this question, I jumped several pages and did the questions that were "doable very quickly to me".

I did run into one question where my answer did not match any of the given solutions. I ended up plugging in the choices into my equation and went with the one that was closest to my answer.

The other advice that the board members are correct ----- do lots of problems. When stumped, then go read the theory or section that applies to the type of problem that you are stuck on. I took the harder approach; I tried to read each and every section then tried to solve problems. This approach doesn't allow you to solve a whole lot of problems when there are other pressing matters in life.

Don't worry! Study more problems and forcus on your passing score as 70% this time. Re-do all of the problems you did before and and solve out every problems you don't understand before. Trying to study more sample and don't just try to finish in time. You can take about hours and just for one question in study but the main thing is you can't just leave this question as unknow to your next exam!!!

"Used a lot of time to study and done a lot of problem is not enough. Trying to make your time schedule perfect to study is not enough. The most important thing is how well do you know for this type of question. Nobody will know how well or how bad you study."
