Are you ready to seize a once in a lifetime opportunity to work on some of the biggest challenges and the most current technologies in the Engineering domain?

We are offering you a chance to join our successful and dynamic Combat
Systems design team, delivering capability across the UK Submarine flotilla

Our roles will offer you the opportunity to exploit and grow your current skills. You will regularly face and solve challenging problems and have the chance to develop future solutions whilst ensuring and supporting a culture of safety and engineering assurance in an environment that pushes the boundaries of engineering excellence…

Working with BAE you'll be part of a team that prides itself on providing world class, cutting edge engineering solutions from concept to design, delivery and support.

We are able to offer a number of opportunities in the Safety Domain:

Hand in hand with the technical challenges of designing the Submarine Combat System, comes the demand to demonstrate that our products are both 'safe to operate' and 'operate safely', within a highly demanding environment.
We are looking for a range of experienced safety practitioners for both System Level Functional and Equipment Level Intrinsic Safety Engineering.

Functional Safety;
As a Functional Safety Engineer you will work in close liaison with Systems Engineers, Technical Authorities and the Ministry of Defence to identify safety functions and requirements, developing System Functional Safety justifications to demonstrate that the delivery of Combat System Safety Functions to the submarine platform meet the required safety integrity.

Product (Intrinsic) Safety;
As a Product Safety Engineer you will work closely with Product Design Engineers and External Suppliers, carrying out a range of equipment level safety engineering activities and analyses.  This work will develop 'New' and maintain 'Existing' Product Safety Cases, to demonstrate that the safety risks associated with the design, operation and maintenance of the equipment remain As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), throughout the product lifecycle.

Maritime Submarines – Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness (Cumbria), Ash Vale (Surrey), Broad Oak (Hampshire), Filton (Bristol), Frimley (Surrey) and Weymouth (Dorset).

We are currently responsible for the design, build and test and commissioning of the Royal Navy's latest and most capable generation of attack submarines, as well as their intelligent Combat Systems trusted to detect threats in the naval environment.

Our Combat Systems team designs, builds, integrates and supports all of the submarine combat systems in the UK fleet – essentially, the eyes and ears of each platform. We provide through-life support for combat systems, sensors and radars, and deliver complex programmes and technologies by applying expert programme management and world-class engineering.
