How much deflection tolerance do you guys practice? I have a steel beam spanning 41 ft with a deflection of .72 inches and by IBC 2012 for roof members I have an L/240 = 2.1 inches. This is for a nonplastered ceiling which is fine because its a canopy with steel panel as ceiling. Any comments?
Just as an FYI
steel beam = W16x40
Loading: wind load is aprox 60psf uplift at "overhang" section adjacent to existing building and Self weight, 30psf elsewhere. Open building with 4x4x.25 HSS columns @ 8ft OC
