About 20 minutes from now will make it exactly 75 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor. There's a lot of activity going on about 8 miles down the road to mark this occasion, but I urge everyone to reflect on this day and the years that followed. I've had the privilege of going to Pearl Harbor three times now (twice to the Arizona Memorial), and every time it has left an impact. This is one place that I would recommend everyone visit if at all possible because it is a humbling experience. I would like to recognize those that gave their lives on that day and all of those that went to war after the attack.

I had a great uncle who was a survivor from that infamous day.  One of only a small group of people who knew how to swim, it's what he said saved his life.  That is all he would ever say about it though.  He refused to talk about it.  nobody ever was able to get him to open up about it before he died an old man.
