Hey there!

So Ive been out of school for 4 years and worked the entire time in the HVAC department. First 3.5 years were with an architect firm. I was used more as a draftsmen and didnt learn much about actual HVAC systems.

Then I decided to change firms because I felt like I wasnt learning as much as I should be. For the past 6 months ive worked for a smaller mechanical HVAC firm dealing with high end residential projects, mostly dealing with geothermal systems.

So, the other day, I talked to my boss and we both decided that I should bite the bullet and try my luck at the HVAC PE exam this April.

Not going to lie, im nervous and need to do ALOT of studying. I hope im not starting too late.

Anyway, with 6 months until the exam, whats the most crucial study material to have for the HVAC exam? Ive been reading the MERM is good to have and 6 minute solutions. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them.

THANK YOU! Dont be shy, more advice the better.

Welcome. I'm a water guy so I can't help with you hvac studies. But good luck.

I think for any discipline, as many practice problems as you can get your hands on, and practice exams. Don't hold them as the end all be all though as you'll find here that can be restricting. But it's at least a decent starting point?

I too worked at a firm where I was overused in bim and underused in actual engineering and props to you for moving on and pushing for your development! Good luck with studying and the exam! No offense but I hope I won't be studying along with you. Haha
