INJECTION MOLDING PROCESS ENGINEER – Detroit Area, MI

80 - 90K + Great Benefits + Matching 401K

·         While in Plymouth, MA incumbent will have housing paid for. 

JOB SUMMARY:

Will live in Plymouth. MA for 4 to 6 months to learn specific injection molding process from Supplier.  Will then return to Auburn Hills as the resident expert and implement brand new injection molding process in the plant.

The Process Engineer is responsible for process engineering activities in the field of injection molding. Responsible for transferring the injection molding know-how (production operations) to the company plants by:

  • Supporting the launch of all injection molding programs in all new facilities across North American region
  • Offer support for launch of new lines/programs in existing plants
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Production setup (until pre series)
                1. Support plant teams during production set-up by:

                                i.          Training workforce

                               ii.          Conduct process training

                              iii.          Optimize system performance (line, dies, automations, furnace, …)

  1. Launch (until Start of Production)


    Support during process set-up and pre-series
  2. Train workforce for correct maintenance of injection molding system (dies, equipment)

[*]Ramp-up of series production (until 3 month after SOP)

  1. Follow-up training to workforce
  2. Transfer injection molding specific know-how within the plants
  3. Best-practice meeting at plant level

[*]Work closely with NA plants to support quality audits.

[*]Report on a weekly basis the status of current projects.

[*]Work closely with company divisions worldwide to improve existing injection molding lines.

Be part of the operational improvement team to improve existing injection molding lines in NA.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Four year college degree is preferred with a major in engineering. A suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
  3. Training in Problem Solving and Project Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Hands on exposure and knowledge of all areas of manufacturing, design and engineering.

2. A dedication to teamwork and management by consensus.

3. Understanding of ISO/TS 16949 principals and requirements, and commitment to meet all standards.

4. Ability to represent company in a productive manner under all conditions involving direct customer interface.

5. Ability to act independently to find answers and solve problems and lead team efforts in these areas.

6. Must possess good analytical abilities and leadership abilities.
