Any recommendations on types of stamps? Preinked vs self inking?

I just got the old school stamps with the ink pad so that I would always have the same stamp and I would just be able to get new ink pads.
I understand the difference between the different types of stamps. I guess I am just not seeing how throwing away and buying a new ink pad is any easier than adding ink to a reusable stamp. You have to refill it or replace it. I just opted to replace the inkpad whenever. I hardly ever stamp anything...and I have two different species of stamps...

I recommend the embosser because it's more fun and never runs out of ink
Yes of course check your state's requirements first!Any recommendations on types of stamps? Preinked vs self inking?

If I remember correctly, I thought I saw something in the Illinois requirements that said a raised stamp wasn't adequate for design approvals. So, to me, you'd need to have a regular inked stamp vs. an embosser.
